View Full Version : Minor annoyances in 6.0.x branch

Hi-

I have been using the 6/3 nightly of the 6.0.x branch. Platform is W2K Pro..

Everything works very well except for two annoyances. I am referring
to the web interface:

The first is with musicmagic. Occasionally (but it feels like
'frequently') I'll create a mix and attempt to either play or add it
and nothing happens. It just will not play or add. If I do a browser
refresh, sometimes it is there, often it is not, and then I have to
start over finding the song or artist that the mix was based on and
doing it again. Don't know if anyone has seen this or if it is a
known bug. It is not all the time.

The second has to do with clearing the now playing playlist, also on
the web interface. Occasionally the 'save, download, clear' option
at the top is simply not visible. It will reappear with a browser
refresh, but this has its own downside. For example, if I have done a
search and want to play that artist/album or song - but don't want to
add it to the current playlist -- I am stuck doing a browser refresh,
clearing the current playlist and starting the search again (search
results are not maintained on a browser refresh). The workaround is
pretty easy, but also annoying: clear the current playlist before
the search/add. But typically I would want to listen to music while I
search/add.

Has anyone else seen these? Are they known bugs? thanks.

Have you considered trying the 6.1 builds? Very little is changing in the
branch at this point since the next official release is planned at 6.1.

I guess I could. But had some rough experiences a few weeks ago. How
close is 6.1, generally speaking, to being stable? Thx.

There is no way to answer that. As always, I've been running off the trunk. I
rarely have anything stop the server unless I've done it deliberately.
However, if you are one of those people who run into something that does cause
a problem, then its 100% unstable.

As for rough experiences, I'd suggest you try it anyway and report on anything
you find. Anything unreported may go unfixed and just ends up being the next
thing people scream about after an official release.

What is probably happening is that the "Save Download Clear" links have scrolled upward and off of the page. You might not notice at first that the right side of the web UI is actually two frames - the top one displaying the Now Playing info tends not to scroll, but the bottom frame, if there are enough playlist items, can scroll the contents upward and out of view. You just need to scroll back up to see them.

Thanks, but that is not what was happening. There was no way to
scroll up - I was at the top of that frame. Anyway, I'll start doing
6.1 again and take kdf suggestion.

I've never quite figured out why the Save Download & Clear buttons are on
the scrolling frame. It's been a (very) minor annoyance since I first got my
Squeezebox. To me, they should obviously be on the (non-scrolling) frame
above. I'm sure there must be a dusty enhancement bugette thingy for this
somewhere.

yes, there is. not every skin leaves it on the scrolling frame. any skin can
have it designed either way.
