I am trying to read the song playing on Slim Server and display it on my keypads in my home stereo system. Planning on using Indigo app. I want to avoide use of Terminal, unless it can run in the background completely. I need to be able to send command line text to the Port and read a response. Similarly I need to do the same for sending text to the Keypad (communicate through a different port than Slim Server - either Serial or a networked GCC-100)

What keypads are you using? I'm interested in a similar project. I
googled GCC-100 and didn't find anything about keypads.

Sorry, I can't help with the AppleScript stuff. I don't know anything
about the language. It would be pretty easy to do with perl or python,
both of which should run easily on Mac OSX.

i'm using indigo to control a squeezebox. i am using as to control terminal, can't do it any other way at the moment. works well enough... for some reason i can't get the display command to behave properly, don't know why. i don't think all the commands are fully implemented by slimd yet. but, that display thing is on my end i believe. takes too much time. here's what i'm using if you're interested:
