I took the leap to 6.1 today. Very nice so far. It is great to have access
to the internet radio from the web interface. However, I do not seem to be
able to make changes to some Shoutcast options. First, I cannot change the
number of streams.

Second, I have not had any luck creating Custom Genres. Perhaps I do not
understand how to use this feature. I entered "Chamber Baroque Chamber" to
create a chamber music genre. No new genre appears in the chamber music
list. I have also tried "Bluegrass Bluegrass" to create a bluegrass genre.

I am running firefox on WinXP.

This is very likely bug 1348
(http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1348) - did you do a clean
install or update 6.1 over 6.0? You'd have to manually remove
ShoutcastBrowser.pm, Picks.pm and RadioIO.pm from the Plugins folder.

At last somebody who wants to use this :-).

If I understood this right (I'm not the author of that plugin) you don't
have to enter the genre you want, but create a file containing them. Then
you give the path to that file in the settings page. So your custom genre
file should contain something like:

Chamber Baroque Chamber
Bluegrass Bluegrass

Does this work?

Thanks, that fixed it!

Ah, I remember back when I could read... Thanks, that works, though it is
not as useful as I had hoped. It strickly uses the genres rather than the
descriptions, so I was not able to separate out chamber music from
classical. Oh well, at least I can get rid of genres in which I have no
interest. Thanks again.

So before I mess things up, does this mean I should uninstall 6.02 and delete the directory before installing 6.1??

Also, does one need Archive.pm with 6.1 now that browsing the live music archive can be done via the squeezenetwork?

No, you just need to delete the ShoutcastBrowser.pm, Picks.pm and RadioIO.pm
from the Plugins folder. The new versions are in the plugins\shoutcaster,
plugins\picks and plugins\RadioIO directories.
