View Full Version : Making faad2 shut up...

I've been using AAC files from iTunes a bit recently, and have been using faad2 to decompress them and stream them to my Squeezeboxen. Only problem is that faad2 streams tons of log messages to stderr, which end up getting spewed to a log file. According to audiocoming.com, there exists a patch for a quiet option, but they haven't updated their downloads for quite a while. Does anybody out there this patch? I'd love to not generate tons of data everytime I play a mp4 file. I can hack the source, of course, but I was hoping somebody might have done it already for me.

Thanks....

Eric

You might try 'alac' instead of faad2 - I've heard it's a lot better.

Re faad.

I think the cvs has the -quiet option. [http://sourceforge.net/cvs/?group_id=704]

Does alac actually decode aac files, or m4a files, or whatever it is that iTunes generates with the AAC encoder? I thought it only worked with the Apple Lossless Codec, and I couldn't find anything on it's website that got me to think otherwise.

Would be cool if it did...
