I have been running Slim Server 5.1.5 on up-to-date 10.3.x Panther. Of
course I had to go and purchase Tiger since all my other Apple upgrade
experience have been happy.

Not so this time. I have been fighting spinning balls for days.
I finally turned off all 3rd party apps and ran ³Cocktail² last night.

My email (Entourage) is much better but still has some intermittent and very
annoying ³spinners²

My Slim Server was toast.

Bottom Line: does Slim Server 6 work with Tiger?
Has anyone else with Slim Server been foolish enough to install Tiger?

Many thanks

Luke

I'm running slimserver with tiger with no problem, though it is the
latest 6.0 version.

Can you describe "toast" in more detail? What version are you running?

Hi, Luke...

I had the Tiger beachball problem, in particular when switching between apps, though I am not running SS on Tiger.

I upgraded four machines from Panther to Tiger and only one of them had the problem (Dual 1.25GHz G4). From the Apple forums it would appear that several dual-processor users and some others have had this problem.

The solution that I found worked for me was to run System Optimizer X 4.6.2. (http://www.mkd.cc/sox/)

I just ran the complete optimize procedure with its defaults and all was well again. In fact Tiger appears snappier and generally faster all round.

Hopes this helps you as it did me.
