Hi,

I have a lot of *.ape files, is there any success
to play it via slimserver 6.0.2?

Maybe mac from Monkeys audio solves this problem,
it is a commandline tool that converts ape to wav
files.

Thanks

if you download and compile mac, place it in /usr/local/slimserver/Bin/i386-linux and slimserver will find it and use it for conversions. Unfortunately, without a staticly linked compile, mac could not be included with the slimserver install. placing mac in /usr/bin would also work as long as it is in your PATH and the slimserver user has permission to execute it. debugging with d_source will help if anything else proves difficult.

I've opened a second discussion on Ripping / Encoding / Transcoding / Tagging forum http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=14304
Thought the place for that kind of discussion is better.

Anyway I was successful in installation of mac but it seems that my
lame version is slight difference in parameter settings.
The bitrate option should be given in 44.1 and not 44100.

Now it works.

Thanks

/usr/local/bin would be the right place on most systems, I think.

Yes, I was wondering about that ... I'd always assumed it was because
of the licensing issue. What earth-shattering dependencies does the
binary have that we can't include or statically link it?

In any case, I could swear this same question popped up yesterday ...
