Hi,

Has anyone successfully installed slimserver on a MIPS based linkstation?

I have tried but don't have the required perl binaries installed. Any advice as to how to do this?

Look on slimdevices.com->community->plugins->hardware mods for a guide.

Hi Patrick,

Unless I have missed something there is only a guide for installing slimserver on a PPC based linkstation here.

I have hacked my MIPS based linkstation to get root access and to install telnet access. What I'm really looking for is some guidance on how to compile Perl for a MIPS platform, or even better some binaries.

Does Buffalo provide source code and/or RPMS for gcc and libc6 headers?

Those will be needed to either bootstrap a cross-compiler, or install gcc
directly on the Linkstation to compile.

Which Linkstation is this now that they've switched to MIPS?

I'm having flashbacks to Tivo's PPC -> MIPS conversion. Eesh. :)

Whoops sorry!

Try this link for a howto on getting into it and adding telnet: http://www.geishuettner.de/docs/Linkstation/

I think you may also need to compile perl binaries and stuff too - it's worth looking on the Linkstation Yahoo group for up-to-date info.

[EDIT - I now realise that you've already done that so I'll shutup now ...]
