Is it possible to have my laptop connect to a network share, and also have my laptop run slim server? When I try and have it scan my library after defining x:\ doesnt seem to like that?

Is the laptop running Windows XP? If you're running SlimServer as a service on XP then you need to have the service log on using a user accunt instead of the default Local System account. The Local System account has no network privileges.

You'll also probably find it much easier using UNC network paths for the Music directory (for example, \\ComputerName\MusicShare\) rather than a mapped drive letter. If you run into further problems connecting to the network share, it's probably a permission problem. Make sure that on the computer where you have the music share you've set the necessary permissions on all directories and files and on the share itself.

So are u saying that under music folder I should be able to specify \\duhaas\music? this is the message I am getting, I have the share and file perms open to everyone

New value for Music Folder rejected:

Oops - "\\duhaas\music" doesn't seem to be a valid directory. Try again.

If 'duhass' is the other computer's name and 'music' is the share name, then that's correct. But it will only work if you're running the service under an account other than Local System.
