Is it me, or has someone recently changed the volume control in SlimServer from 1-20 to 1-11? I could have sworn the maximum was 20 a few days ago, but it's now 11 in the 1.0.x branch that I'm running (last updated a couple of days ago). I highly approve of being able to go to 11 when I need that little bit more! ;-)

Default skin has always gone to 11.

http://www.slimdevices.com/su_downloads-5.4.1.html - in the web interface
it's been 11 for quite a while. The player uses another scale.

I've realised the confusion - it's because SoftSqueeze (and assumedly SB2 - I'd know if mine ever arrives...) goes up to 40. Is it a Spinal Tap reference? I hope so!

It's touches like that that make me glad I've bought a Squeezebox!

This "feature" appeared around introduction of Slimserver 5.0.1 and the
release of the SB1. I think it started as a mailing list joke about the
line level out of the new hardware being a little low, so the volume
scale was shifted from 1-10 to 1-11 so it would be "louder".

This and the "free pony" request still make me laugh when they crop up
from time to time.

AlienBBC cannot handle this but I've had loads of success recording internet
radio and other streaming audio using Total Recorder:
http://www.totalrecorder.com/

I use it to capture all of my favorite NPR material nightly, then it's all
pushed to the Omnifi DMP1 in my car so that by the next morning I have my
NPR shows available for me on my squeezebox and in my car for the ride to
work. I'm especially fond of the rather advanced file-naming and id3
tagging abilities of the program which can actually extract the tag
information from whatever media player is playing the file.
