Softsqueeze and built in SSH problem.

Okay, I had SSH working with SoftSqueeze 1.X and SlimServer 5.4.x. Now with
Softsqueeze 2.0 b99 and SlimServer 6.1 Trunk I am unable to connect. I am
able to create a tunnel and use remote desktop (WinXP SP2). Below are the
entries from the Windows Event Log (Using Open SSH for windows):

    Found Problem sort of

After connecting with SSH SoftSqueeze attempts to connect to the SlimServer, when it dosen't receive a response in a timley manner it reports that it cannot connect. Just leaving SoftSqueeze open for a little while longer will result in a connection. However I am unable to play any mp3's (buffer status on SoftSqueeze reports 0%), I believe that it is a network problem and not a SoftSqueeze problem. I'll keep digging and report my findings here.

      Press pause twice...

I've been having problems similar to those described in your last post. Try pressing pause, waiting for a second or two, then pressing pause again.

Re: Softsqueeze and built in SSH problem.

Currently I am unable to connect to my home server over the Internet. I
receive the "Connection failed. Please check server settings." in the
SoftSqueeze display. I am however connected to my server with an SSH tunnel..
I am able to connect via local LAN over SSH to the server on my laptop. I'll
do some more investigation this weekend.

Are you using the built in tunnel in Softsqueeze?

Doesn't matter I've tried both ways. Through the Local LAN the built in
tunnel works great. Over the internet neither it or Tunnelier (from BitVise)
            works with SoftSqueeze.

Re: Softsqueeze and built in SSH problem.

I had a similar problem (with some of the same messages in the event
manager). What ended up fixing it for me was strange, but I won't
              argue. (Win2k, SS 6.01, SoftSqueeze 2.0b6)

My original network setup that wouldn't work:
DSL Router --> Wireless router --> SlimServer computer

After troubleshooting everything I could think of software-related I
              switched my cabling setup to:
              DSL Router --> SlimServer Computer
DSL Router -- > Wireless router

For some reason (anybody know?) connecting the SlimServer computer
_directly_ to my DSL Router allowed me to use softsqueeze with the ssh
              option just fine.

              HTH,

              G
