I order a wireless black squeezebox 2 on 11th March.
Still no sign?

Is availability really this bad?????

I'd happily take a wired one, if that's all that is available.

No response to emails to multitask, but I guess they are overwhelmed by people like me hassling them.

Anyone got any news?

Shipments were backlogged due to orders. Slim Devices has posted here sayign
they expected to have those backlogs cleared up in the next couple weeks. This
would mean we are now nearing that time. However, shipment time to the UK has
to be factored in, and the MultiTask would have to deal with their back orders
in sequence. Usually they are very responsive, even in these forums.
Hopefully Stuart can provide more updated information.

This is taken from the last MultiTask newsletter received on 2005-03-21

"The last UK batch of Black Wireless was smaller than hoped for, but
at least some people now have one. In fact, one customer had his
installed by 9.30am the day after it shipped! The next (slightly
larger) batch is due next week, with another batch the following week.
These shipments should clear most, if not all, of the backlog of Black
Wired and Black Wireless."

Personally, I've found the communication from MultiTask to be very
good. Have you tried using the form on the website?

I received an update email from Multitask last Thursday saying that there were due to get a shipment in the coming week followed by another the week after and that these should clear most, if not all, the backlog.

They've been pretty good with keeping me informed - I think I've had three update emails in the last two weeks.

Multitask haven't been good at responding to my emails (I don't think they've responded to any of them!). However, when I've rung them they have been excellent. Multitask have a newsletter that they send out whenever they have an update on the Squeezeboxes. Give them a ring and get them to make sure that you are on the list. I suspect that part of the reason behind the poor email response rate is because they assume that people are on the list so already have the information they need.

I ordered my Platinum SB2 wireless at the end of March and am still waiting. I've now switched to a Black model and apparently can be hopeful of getting it in the first week of May, or next week if I'm lucky. There have been bad supply problems with the Platinum cases (don't know exactly what), so these have all been delayed significantly.
