hi richard,

i have lost the ability to use softsqeeuze. i'm using firefox with
j2re1.5.0_02 installed and working correctly [ e.g.,
http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml works ]. when i go to
the softsqueeze page it fails to recognize that my environment is
correct and the webstart does not work.

any tips?

The test page you mention runs an applet, so does Softsqueeze work as an
applet (scroll to the bottom of the softsqueeze page in the slimserver)?
Maybe webstart is not working correctly with your browser, sorry but I
am not sure how to fix that on Linux.

yes, the applet works just fine as long as i have password
authentication off. otherwise it fails to download the .jar files.

fixed. mimetypes.rdf issue in .mozilla/firefox/blah/

basically it was trying to find javaws in the wrong spot. not even
setting my $JAVA_HOME var would fix it.
