View Full Version : Memory leak in ExBrowse2?

SlimServer Version: 6.0.1 - 2895 (installed from
SlimServer_v2005-04-18.exe)

WinXP SP2 on 1GHz mobile Athlon 4, 256mb RAM

When I use the ExBrowse2 skin, the memory footprint
just goes up, up and away, even if the player is
stopped. I also get a CPU spike of 25-40% every
five seconds, in synch with the increases in memory
usage.

Memory stays flat with Fishbone, no CPU spikes; if
I switch to Fishbone from ExBrowse2, the VM size
does not go down to the level I see when starting
in Fishbone.

Gah, memory leaks.

Does this happen only with IE, or with every browser? How much of a
memory increase are you seeing with each jump?

----------------------------

There seems to be no problem with Firefox, just IE and
the standard SlimServer Web UI (which uses IE). Here's
how the memory usage changed in a recent session (just
displaying the page; nothing playing):

Mem Usage VM Size
0:00 27,396 K 13,080 K
0:10 36,248 23,008
0:20 32,968 33,596
0:30 32,072 43,728
0:40 23,000 54,300
0:50 33,300 64,180
:
2:10 36,664 146,396

I thought before that the Mem Usage was increasing
significantly, too (but more slowly); anyway, the
virtual memory size seems to increase at a steady 1MB
per minute.

With Firefox, I was still getting CPU spikes every 5
seconds, but rarely more than 9%. They corresponded
to activity by slim.exe.
