I'm having trouble running slimserver v6.0 on Linux
with Perl 5.6.1, connecting with a Roku M1000.

First, in order for slimserver to find the shared
object files in the slime server distribution I had
to create some symbolic links in the CPAN/arch tree:

CPAN/arch/5.6.1 -> CPAN/arch/5.6
CPAN/arch/5.6/i686-linux -> CPAN/arch/5.6/i386-linux

Having done that, I encountered this error from slimserver:

"Your vendor has not defined Socket macro IPPROTO_TCP, used
at /usr/local/slimserver/Slim/Networking/Slimproto.pm line 78."

What is "vendor" referring to? My music player, Linux, the
Perl version?

It does after that so I now have line 78 in that file commented out.

Next problem (and I think the last) is the inability to browse
the music library from the Sound Bridge. I am able to browse
the music folder but attempting to browse albums, artists or
genres results in the following (or similar) error:

Argument "file:///export/music/Jazz/Miles%20Davis/Facets/05%20Thre..."
isn't numeric in subroutine entry at
/usr/local/slimserver/CPAN/DBIx/ContextualFetch.pm line 51.

2005-04-02 21:01:03.4814 Backtrace:

frame 0: Slim::DataStores::DBI::DBIStore::objectForUrl
(/usr/local/slimserver/Slim/Music/Info.pm line 699)
frame 1: Slim::Music::Info::standardTitle
(/usr/local/slimserver/Slim/Buttons/BrowseID3.pm line 719)

I am attempting to track down what might be going wrong but I'm
hoping someone with more knowledge of this code can help out.

1) slimserver v6.0 is best used with perl 5.8 or better.
2) for use with roku products, you need to contact roku support
