View Full Version : SB2 Satisfaction -- gapless!

Just wanted to chime in and say that while I was happy with the SB1, I
am even more happy with the SB2. I got mine today and quickly switched
over to it painlessly.

All of my music is in ogg, so the larger buffer, flac support and
802.11g are all extremely helpful for my setup. I was doing 320kbps mp3
on the SB1 because of periodic dropouts... with that problem solved,
things are sounding better than ever.

One pleasant surprise is that playback is now cleanly gapless for me.
On the SB1, there would be the slightest of pauses between tracks. It
wasn't bad, but it was there. With the SB2, I just listened to "Dark
Side of the Moon" and "Abbey Road", and they sounded just plain perfect.
For those of you encoding as one big file in order to avoid gaps, you
might not need to anymore...

Slim Devices... it seems like you guys took care of almost everything on
my wishlist, including the free pony. I'm beyond satisfied and
otherwise at a loss for words, so I'll simply say "Thanks".

What do you mean? The SB2 can now play mp3's gapless?

No idea... if I had mp3s, I'd tell you. If nobody else chimes in, I'll
re-encode some album as mp3s and give it a whirl. For my setup with one
ogg file per track and being sent as flac to the SB2, it is gapless.
Doing ogg to pcm or mp3 on the SB1 wasn't for me.
