i asked this before but i think it may have been lost in the sb2 crossfire.
could anyone tell me if it's possible to get the 6.0 server to automatically
recognize recently downloaded 'podcasts' and add them to the database or at
least make them available for play from the menu
without doing a rescan? i'm using ipodder (www.ipodder.org) to grab podcasts
which are then stored in a directory of my choosing. they show up in itunes
without a scan but unfortunately i'm using slimserver on linux.

anyone even doing much podcasting? i haven't heard anything about it on this
list. just curious.

The latest nightly for 6.1 includes a podcast browser, courtesy of our
own Dave Cohen and he started a thread to discuss:

Just a note:
If you use the new itunes 4.9 any podcasts that you download are available via Browse playlists > itunes Podcasts. Nice.

I've got 4.9 (slimserver 6.02) and while I see the playlist named "Podcasts",
it is empty. :-(

The box is a mac mini running Mac OS X 10.4.1 (nothing fancy, but no
developer tools).

I know I've got at least one podcast, but the playlist is empty.
I think I've got to be missing something simple here.

I am using the 6.1b1 with 10.4.1 version, but I don't think that
would be the problem. No dev tools either.
Are the tracks in your other playlists showing up?
Did you do a rescan after you downloaded the podcast?

All the other tracks and playlists are fine.

I didn't.
A rescan found the 'cast (thanks!), but that just begs a different question:

If I downloaded the podcast last night, my server is set to
check for changes
in the iTunes library every 60 seconds, why didn't it show up this morning?

Nice integration, though. ;-)
