View Full Version : Issues with 6.0b1's SoftSqueeze

Just downloaded and installed 6.0b1 and am trying to
get Softsqueeze 2.0a11 working.

First of all the JMF MP3 plugin from SUN will not
install on my XP box. The install starts up and wants
to write to c:\program files\java\jre1.5.0\jre.
Well you just keep hitting next, and nothing happens.
I tried removing Java, and re-installing, no good.
Anyway, I downloaded that .zip file and installed
mp3plugin.jar in C:\Program
Files\Java\jre1.5.0_01\lib\ext.
and softSqueeze starts!

But when I play any of my music all I get is static.
Now if I play internet radio (Squeezebox picks) I get
static then it plays.

Why dosn't my music play through SoftSqueeze?

Thanks

A number of bugs have been fixed with Softsqueeze since 6.0b1, including
some I have just sorted out tonight. I would recommend trying tomorrow's
nightly release for Softsqueeze.

I have not heard about this problem before. What format is your music
collection in?

Does that include the one where you press Now Playing more than once and
slimserver crashes?

I don't remember seeing this one mentioned. If it still happens can you
post the end of the slimserver log.

Thanks,
Richard

It's empty - so I assume I have to turn on some of the debugging options on
in Server Settings, Debugging? Which ones?

What OS are you using? On Linux the server writes debug to
/tmp/slimserver.log when it crashes. Not sure about windows I am afraid.

It is Windows - how did you guess? But I have no idea where they hide the
log either. There is a log.txt, but it is empty...
