I upgraded to 6.0b1 - r2461 - noCPAN today in a fresh directory. After a
while I went to look at the web interface and the server showed only a
quarter of my songs/albums. Thinking it was finished scanning, I started to
debug...
Turns out it just doesn't show the 'server is still scanning' anymore, but
the preliminary number of songs, etc. The user has no way of knowing if the
scan is complete in this way.

This shoudlnt' be happening. the 'still scanning' checks the import count and
if there is any, then it should be reporting 'still scanning'

can you supply some details on what importers you use (and this includes music
folder). was your slimserversql.db file erase? on some systems, the db file
location doestn't seem to be correlated to the install location, so there could
be an influence there (love those linux variants :). Its possible also that
garbage collection (while no importers were active) might have fiddled with the
numbers in this case.
