From the SB2 FAQ:

Does this mean that the _Squeezebox_ can be controlled via HTTP or does it
mean that _SlimServer_ can be controlled through HTTP?

What is the "command-line style" interface? Are there some standard
command-line utilities written to do playback or does it mean that
command-line programs could be written (using the HTTP interface, I
assume)? Once again, is this an interface with the Squeezebox or with
SlimServer?

Arghh. I just reread this and realize that the "HTTP interface" is the
SlimServer web interface.

The command-line interface I then assume interfaces with SlimServer,
correct?

slimserver.

look in your slimserver help section, under technical information, for command
line interface, and web interface. These outline the commands that are
supported.

yes.

slimserver. SqueezeNetwork is something that will allow you to run a Squeezebox2
without a server of your own, since it will essentially be a shared slimserver
hosted by SlimDevices.

Is the API to the Squeezebox/2 well-documented? I'm just curious if
anyone has ever tried creating a Squeezebox output plugin for, say,
WinAMP. Or for that matter, if anyone has messed around with developing
either a server or other playback software from scratch.

Methinks you don't understand what the Squeezebox does :)

Anyway, the API is documented, as are some nifty hardware connectors.
There've been a few different software clients written, at least one guy
was writing an alernate server. There's even a competing company making
hardware clients.
