View Full Version : SlimServer 6.0 b1 and Live365 - Display Scrolling/ResponseTime

I loaded the 2005-3-11 SlimServer 6.0 nightly and found the following problem:
When using Live365 as a stream source the Horizontal scrolling is very
jerky, also the response time between remote clicks is too great. If
I pause or stop the stream then the SB functions as expected. As soon
as the stream starts responsiveness goes right out the window.

Server Specifics:
Dual 1Ghz P3
512 MB RAM
Windows XP Pro SP2
CPU load while streaming 3% - 4%
Memory Useage 215 MB
1025 Songs in iTunes Database.

I suspect the Live365 plugin is at fault here. Possibly not returning
control back to SlimServer often enough?

Thanks
Roy Owen

Roy,

Is this from Softsqueeze or a Squeezebox1/G?

Also here are the 2 streams I use mostly:
1.) Mystic Soundscapes
2.) Moods of the Moon

Both of these streams produce the above mentioned problem, I didn't
try other streams.

If you set the scoll pause to a long time, does the IR responsiveness return when not scrolling? [I don't think it will, but want
to check!]

I'm not at home right now, but I'll check later this afternoon. I
don't think it will matter either as the responsiveness doesn't get
better as you scroll through the menu items (even if you change items
before the scrolling starts).

Roy,

That's as I thought - (just wanted to prove it was not my scrolling software!)

I've been chasing a problem caused by some additions to 6.0 and which I think is probably the cause of this. We are discussing it
on the developers list - will let you know when we have something which resolves it.

Okay, thanks. If I can be of more help please let me know
(unfortunatly I don't know how to code in Perl. I'm strictly a Delphi
and C++ guy).
