View Full Version : Slimserver 6.0 for SB1

2005-03-09, 13:21
The Slimserver 6.0 version seem to be out of Beta now. According to the new
site it is designed to power Squeezebox2.

Does anyone know if is stable enough to use on a Squeezebox1 setup? Or
should I stick to the latest 5.4 release for now?

Thanks,
Peter

I've been using 6.0 for a very long time now; it has a few quirks, but it works
well. I even rely on it to wake me up in the morning.

Plus, if you try it out now, then you can report any quirks you run into so that
they are gone by the final release. Any unreported problems, run the risk of
going unfixed. Slimserver has become so flexible and so varied, that any given
person can play around for days and not run into a problem that another user
may find within seconds.

I still have a strange behavior with 6.0 : the playlists coming from
iTunes are now showed in alphabetic order without taking into account
the ' I added in front one some of them to have them sorted at the
beginning like I see them in iTunes i.e 'New is before Jazz ; I
reinstalled 5.4 and every thing is now fine again.

As anyone seen this or is it a localized behavior due to french
characters for instance?

5.4 used to ignore punctuation for the purposes of sorting. this may still be
the case. sadly, can't seem to please everyone (mainly because language just
isn't used the same for everyone) :)
