OK - Got it working (with OS X 10.3.8)

I had to delete the db file before the new version would work:
~/Library/Caches/SlimServer/slimserversql.db

I started SlimServer manually:
~/Library/PreferencePanes/SlimServer.prefPane/Contents/server/
slimserver.pl --d_info --d_server

The output form the above command is valuable stuff, just to see what's
going on. I have 5800 tracks, and the library scan took a few mins to
complete. The new slimserversql.db is 5.4MB big. So far, Slimserver is
working fine, and uses between 0 and 2% CPU, much better than before.
Searches are totally instant! I am very excited about this now, great
work guys (no need to go back to 5.4 even), and to think its only going
to get better!

Feature request: The OSX preference pane is great, but could you add a
real time "Total Tracks: XXXX" , or some indication when its scanning.
When Slimserver is really busy, neither the web interface or SB can
display any information and its nice to know what's going on.

Cleared out all slim stuff I could find before install.

Did a search for song name straight after scan, server crashed, from

An update to my last post, the server is finding the songs by
displaying the first found song ie 1of 48 etc
but when I press the down button to see the next song found that is
when the server crashes.
