Kevin,

I know nothing about perl or the slimsoft development environment, but I am
interested in the ability to use the squeezebox and squeezebox remote to
command other devices and I've learnt more through discovering a few
problems with execute than if it had just worked first time ;)

So thanks!

that's because they arent :)

the plugin API is vastly superior now compared to what it was back then. I
honestly think you are the first person who seemed to be interested in using
this for anythign more than calling a shutdown command. I appreciate all
the
debugging efforts. I am surprised that none of it has been noticed in
nearly
two years ;)

I'll drop in the fixes you have mentioned, and I'll look into the defaults
for
the player settings.

well, then you can count on me for a great learning experience any time! ;)

You should check out the XPL support as well. it can be enabled under server
settings->network. Of course, the only think I know about it is that it is
supposed to allow you to control outside devices :)
