Hi Stuart

Don't know if you've already tried this, but Step 4 is still wrong.

Very Sorry. Here's revised, revised Step 4

Regards
Patrick

*********************************
Revised Step 4 (3rd try)

Download and install Active Perl:
http://downloads.activestate.com/ActivePerl/Windows/5.8/ActivePerl-5.8.6.811
-MSWin32-x86-122208.msi

Create the directory "auto" under "C:\Program
Files\SlimServer\server\CPAN" then copy the directory
"C:\Perl\site\lib\auto\HTML" and its contents (including all sub-directories
and their
contents) to your new directory "C:\Program
Files\SlimServer\server\CPAN\auto".

Copy the directory "C:\Perl\site\lib\HTML" and it's contents (including
all sub-directories and their contents) to "C:\Program
Files\SlimServer\server\CPAN\" - overwriting any older files.

**********************************

OK - This is how I did it!
Good luck, and let us know if it works.

AlienBBC for Windows Installation Instructions

These are substantially based on instruction on the AlienBBC website:
http://www.mrtickle.org/alienbbc.html - but with the gaps filled in!

Step 1:

Download and install SlimServer V5.4.0
http://www.slimdevices.com/downloads/SlimServer_v5.4.0/SlimServer_v5.4.0.exe
This should install the Slimserver software under "C:\Program
Files\Slimserver"
(You will have probably already done this anyway.)

Step 2:

Go to the SlimServer 'Nightly Releases' page
http://www.slimdevices.com/downloads/nightly/latest/5.4.1/ and download the
file called something like:
http://www.slimdevices.com/downloads/nightly/latest/5.4.1/SlimServer_5_4_x_v
2005-01-29.tar.gz (the date part of the name changes nightly!)

Having download this file, unzip with WinZip and extract all the files
(with the "use folder names" box checked) to "C:\Program Files"
This extracts the files to directory called something like: "C:\Program
Files\SlimServer_v2005-01-29" (the date part of the name changes nightly!)

Copy everything in the "C:\Program Files\SlimServer_v2005-01-29"
(including all sub-directories and their contents) to "C:\Program
Files\SlimServer\server" - overwriting any older files.
You should now be running the latest nightly version of SlimServer V5.4.1
(although the version under 'Help - About Slimserver' may not say this).

Step 3:

Download the AlienBBC beta:
http://www.mrtickle.org/downloads/alienbbc_0.93.windows.zip

Having download this file, unzip with WinZip and extract all the files
(with the "use folder names" box checked) to "C:\Program
Files\SlimServer\server"
This extracts the files into the main SlimServer directory.

Step 4

Download and install Active Perl:
http://downloads.activestate.com/ActivePerl/Windows/5.8/ActivePerl-5.8.6.811
-MSWin32-x86-122208.msi

Create the directory "auto" under "C:\Program
Files\SlimServer\server\CPAN" then copy the directory
"C:\Perl\site\lib\auto\HTML" and its contents (including all sub-directories
and their
contents) to your new directory "C:\Program
Files\SlimServer\server\CPAN\auto".

Copy the directory "C:\Perl\site\lib\HTML" and it's contents (including
all sub-directories and their contents) to "C:\Program
Files\SlimServer\server\CPAN\" - overwriting any older files.

Step 5

Download MPlayer:
http://www2.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/win32-beta/MPlayer-mingw32-1.0pre6
..zip

Having download this file, unzip with WinZip and extract all the files
(with the "use folder names" box checked) to "C:\Program Files\MPlayer"
This extracts the files to directory called: "C:\Program
Files\MPlayer\mplayer".

Download the Windows codecs for MPlayer:
http://www2.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/codecs/windows-all-20050115.zip

Having download this file, unzip with WinZip and extract all the files
(with the "use folder names" box checked) to "C:\Program Files\MPlayer"
This extracts the files to directory called: "C:\Program
Files\MPlayer\windows-all-20050115".

Copy everything in the directory "C:\Program Files\
MPlayer\windows-all-20050115" (including all sub-directories and their
contents) to "C:\Program Files\ MPlayer\mplayer\codecs\" - overwriting any
older files.

Copy everything in the directory "C:\Program Files\Mplayer\mplayer" to
"C:\Program Files\SlimServer\server\Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread" -
overwriting any older files.

Step 6

Run SlimServer and check that AlienBBC and appears on your Squeezebox
menus, and that the BBC radio streams play.
There are some bugs - the BBC have recently changed their radio streaming
web pages so the "BBCLive" programmes don't work - but a Live version of
each station appear under the "Listen Again" menus.

It'd be great if someone who's had success installing it on windows re-wrote
the instructions on Mr Tickle's web site, as I think it's a bit unlikely
anyone would be able to install if they followed the present instructions.
I've now given up twice.. but am just about to have third go as i think the
following lines might be the final missing link for me:

"Dragging the mplayer.exe, codecs and the Windows
Essential codecs out of their subdirectories into the multi-thread directory
made it work."

So far I've only dragged mplayer.exe into the multithread directory.
At thebe moment for me the plugin looks like it is playing but there is no
sound.
