View Full Version : Slimserver crashing

Suddenly my slimserver is not stable, and I have no idea why. When I restart
the slimserver, I see:

Jan 30 09:05:33 music su: Subroutine HTML::Entities::decode_entities
redefined at /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.3/i386-linux-thread-multi/DynaLoader.pm line
249, <DATA> line 1.

But other than that I have no indication what is causing the problem. Any
ideas how to debug this?

Redhat 9,
Music library contains 1676 albums with 22956 songs by 3277 artists.

[root@music root]# rpm -qa|grep slim
slimserver-5.4.0-1

that's mostly harmless. one of the plugins you have installed must be using the
standard HTML::Entities intead of the one in slimserver that is slightly
modified.

what build is it?
added/updated any new plugins recently?
what causes the crash? (assuming that unstable = crashing every so often)
if you can't see the crashes, run it from command line and leave it going,
trying to do the things that often cause it to crash.
/usr/local/slimserver/slimserver.pl

once you see a crash, then you can possibly isolate which debug settings would
be most helpful. otherwise, you can pick random ones based on what you think
has been causing a crash.

Chris - that string token doesn't occur anywhere in our code. Perhaps in a
Plugin you have loaded? Could you grep through your SlimServer directory for that token?

Thanks.
