View Full Version : DHCP problems with Slimp3

I have started to have some problems with my Slimp3, which is connected via an
ME101 WLAN.b bridge to a netgear DG834G WLAN router. What I am seeing is that
the bridge correctly connects to the router, but the Slimp3 is stuck on
searching for a DHCP server.

If I configure the IP addresses manually in the Slimp3, it immediately starts to
work, but then the problem is that my server address sometimes changes, so this
is not ideal [and I hate it when things don't work the way they should!]

If I plug my portable PC into the bridge, it connects fine first time, yet
moving the cable back to the Slimp3 leaves it searching for DHCP again.

I am wondering therefore if this is something specific to the slimp3, using v2.2
firmware. I am not sure if the v2.3 would help with this problem.

As a separate question, for my squeezebox, can someone tell me if this is able
to work without SSID broadcast? I am wondering if I should turn off SSID
broadcast now that I've got broadband as well.

Thanks,
Pascal.

Yeah, it works just fine without broadcast. You just have to scroll
down through the list of all your neighbours' broadcasting networks to
get to a line where you can type in your SSID manually using the numberpad.
