View Full Version : Konfabulator Widget: SlimServMon

2005-01-25, 07:09
For those of you who know about Konfabulator - there is now a widget
available similar to the iTunes ones such as "Sputnik" and "iTunes
Companion", but that talks to your slimserver. Basically a monitor of what
your player(s) is(are) currently doing. The description is:

------------------------
This widget interfaces with your SlimServer (see
http://www.slimdevices.com/) showing the album cover, Track Name, and Artist
for the currently playing track. There are three sizes, and seven color
schemes to pick from. There are also simple controls that allow you to skip
to the previous/next track, pause and play.

If you have more than one player you can enter the relevant PlayerID of the
one you want to monitor in the preference pane.

Note that you will need to be running a SlimServer to utilize this widget.

Hey... Cool. I like that!

Sadly... it didn't work too well with SlimServer v6. Turns out it was
choking on some new(ish) code for protecting slimserver from being
controlled outside of the web interface (I think it's actually in new
v5.4.x nightlies, too... but I haven't checked that). So... I got hacking.

See attached for a replacement version of SliMP3.kon, which adds support
for suppying the 'CAUTH' value to get it fixed. As long as the settings
are only set to 'Medium', you're laughing.

I can get this partly working - so far very nice . Using V6 of
SlimServer and displays coverart and track info but the transport
controls don't work for me . They go blue but have no effect (and stay
blue) I tried it with and without the CAUTH fix (which I am not sure I
need as its an older Windows server build (14thJan))

Any ideas ?

Has any progress been made on this working with 6.1? I loved using this widget in the past, but now i'm at a loss and the original developer doesn't appear to be willing to continue supporting it... oh well..

I know this is a bit OS dependent but what about a dashboard widget?
I only use the web interface to rescan the library, a small widget
which does this and displays library stats and maybe currently
playing song would be nice.
