There are many options depending on your specific need
without having to develop an MCE2K5-specific app. You
can either have MCE2K5 be the player or have MCE2K5 be
the recipient of the SB stream... The 1st 2 options
below denote MCE2K5 as being the player and the last 2
utilizing SB as being the player:

1) You can always just save a SHARED PLAYLIST on your
network and use MCE2K5 to import this shared playlist
(make sure that the network shares are either UNC or
that the drive letters for the shares are the same on
each client on the network).
2) I also have MCE2K5 and I just LOAD my MUSIC from a
central location to both SB and MCE2K5.
3) Not sure of how much need there is to actually
control the SB from within the MCE2K5 interface; you
can always pop-open a browser and control it that way
while the music is coming from the SB.
4) Or, if you wanted to stream your music to MCE2K5,
you could add the URL to INTERNET RADIO within the
RADIO section of MCE2K5
http://[SBSERVERADDRESS]/stream.mp3 I believe is the
streaming addy.

I'm currently looking into a way that the Squeezebox (and/or slimserver)
could interface with MCE2005 as a Media Extender, so you can access all song
files/playlists from MCE.

I think it would be a worthwhile effort, but with all the Anti-MS in these
lists...I'm pretty sure I'd be going it alone, and free time is rare these
days.

Danny,

I think you'll find that there are a lot of Windows users who would love
you to death if you pull this off. They might even pay for a small Media
Extender plugin that lets you manage playlists using MCE or Media Player
but stream the audio to a Squeezebox!

I will definately look into it (no $$$ required). It's just a matter of
free time.

Perhaps I can give you my wife's phone number, and you can convince her I
should be on the computer more!!!? Haahaa!

Danny,

What's the number of your wife. I am interested in a MCE plugin and willing to pay for it.

I just ordered my first squeezebox and have been playing around with softsqueeze to see what can be done. I have a media center extender and also want to be able to control the squeezebox from the extender. Option 3 below seems to work using the MCE browser, and the handheld skin (point to http://x.x.x.x:9000/handheld/). The default skin didn't seem to work in the MCE browser. The MCE browser if pretty bad though, so a MCE plugin would probably be better.
