My squeezebox no longer displays the time and date while it is in standby- instead the screen is just blank. How can I get it to display this again? I played around with the screensaver settings, but that just changed the behavior while it was playing music, and the screen still went blank when I hit the power button on the remote.

Try the brightness in Player Settings/Display.

I got the same problem.

Just acquired my new SB2 a few weeks ago. It was displaying clock in "power off" state. Now the screen is blank on "Power off".

I've tried removing the power plug and putting it back;
I've tried running through set up.
I've tried changing 'screensaver when off'.
I've tried ensuring that auto upgrade was enabled in case there's a bug fix. (It reports "28").

I didn't have to press the brightness button when I first got the machine. It sat quietly displaying the date and time.

Maybe it got an auto upgrade that now 'dims' after a timeout -
i.e that it didn't do before ???

I'll try pressing the brightness button when I get home tonight.
(Does the brightness button work on "power off" state?).

What is the explanation for this change in behaviour?

Yes

What is the explanation for this change in behaviour?
In my house, it usually means someone sat on the remote.

With recent (6.2 and later server) you need the off screensaver to be set to "Date and Time". Once you have this, the brightness button should work for you.

[prior to 6.2 a screensaver of "none" would also display the date and time screen]
