I have run Slimserver on a SuSE machine, on a RedHat
machine and on a Windows XP machine.
When it is running on Linux it misreports the number
of tracks, artists and albums. Currently 5.4.0 on
Redhat is reporting:
817 albums
6293 songs
1074 artists
while 5.4.1 on Windows XP is reporting:
1454 albums
4088 songs
1091 artists
which I know to be within one track of being the
correct number of tracks.
I have experienced the same inaccuracy with 5.4.1 and
6.0 under Linux. I have wiped the cache (not just
rescanned) several times, rebooted several times and
built the Redhat machine from scratch.
My /etc/fstab contains:
//musicserver/MP3 /music/MP3 smbfs
credentials=/root/.smbpwd,ro,gid=sambausersgroup 0 0
(on one line) and my Windows XP machine has a drive
mapped to //musicserver/MP3, so Slimserver looks at
//musicserver/MP3 on all the machines
I may be barking up the wrong tree - but is this
related to tracknames that have single quotes in them?
Will this confuse the perl scripts? And why does
Linux report _more_ tracks but less albums and artists?

* bart maguire shaped the electrons to say...

>(on one line) and my Windows XP machine has a drive
>mapped to //musicserver/MP3, so Slimserver looks at

Bart - does your collection contain file or directory names with accented / high-bit characters?
