Thanks kdf!

kdf,

There is no JP1 port on my 6131, although you can buy one "hacked" that has a jp1 port, so you can do all those usual tricks. Pretty cool. It is not technically an IR learning remote, but it has memory...

No, I'm simply using advanced key codes and assigning them to keys (after mapping a basic JVC DVD player first, of course). The only advanced codes reference I could find was:

http://www.hifi-remote.com/codes2/DVD_0558.shtml

The problem is, e.g., slimserver's "jvc_dvd.ir file states that "now playing" is mapped to the control's PIP key. Well, the info in the link above does not mention "PIP", so I'm kind of stuck. "PIP" doesn't seem like a DVD function, anyway.

Maybe -- Maybe I'm going about this the wrong way. Why don't I just "hack" or rearrange the "jvc_dvd.ir" file so that the things I want are mapped to things my remote understands? I think I'll try that.

I'm still stuck on "volume" though. Never saw a DVD player that had a volume control -- at least one that wasn't just sending TV volume codes. I'll keep hacking...

ah, yes, now I understand. i guess the key would be to know what the Sony
remote would send for PIP when operating in JVC DVD mode :)
