Hi;

Just wondering if there's anybody knows if it's possible to have
slimserver integrate with rhythmbox as it does with itunes? Is anybody
working on this?
The other way to go about it would be to just push all of the
ranking & on the fly playlisting stuff across from itunes/rhythmbox into
slimserver. (Which is the main reason I'd like the two to integrate)

The playlists are stored as XML files in ~/.gnome2/rhythmbox/playlists.xml

It should be pretty trivial to convert that into a .pls format that the
Slim can grok. Now doing it in real time is a whole different thing, but
you could probably manage something pretty easy via a plugin. Not that I
am volunteering to do it :)

KDF is working on making it relatively easy to write a plugin that acts
as an importer from external data sources like itunes, moodlogic and
musicmagic. Anybody interested on working on the Rhythmbox importer,
join us on the developer list!

so, I guess on that note, can anyone tell me how to create a branch?

I think if this is worth testing out and applying new things to it, we'll need
to make one. its a work in progress at best, but I do have a copy that is
converted to plugins. I'd really like to see the Rhythmbox integration come to
life if anyone can spare the time to work on it. The only free time I have
right now will be taken by keeping the import progress moving forward.

cheers,
kdf
