Hello -

I've tried many things including looking in the prefs for a way to get

softsq to stop displaying credits and acknowledgements as soon as it
launches. The UI seems to be disabled and I can't find a key sequence to
terminate the behavior.

Thanks!

Mike,

I am not sure what credits and acknowledgments you mean? Are you
starting Softsqueeze using Java Web Start? And if the UI is disabled
how are you getting to the preferences?

Regards,
Richard

Richard,
The prefs I was talking about were those listed in the registry. I was
thinking there's some sort of start up switch set, but I wasn't able to find
one.

Here's a more descriptive account of what I'm seeing.

Upon start up - (I'm launching it from my client machine via "C:\Program
Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_03\javaws\javaws.exe" "@C:\Documents and
Settings\Administrator\.javaws\cache\indirect\indi rect59192.ind") - I see a
remote UI with the softsqueeze rectangular display about an inch below it.
The UI buttons seemsto be disabled (none of the buttons seem to do anything
when I click on them.) The display first shows the familiar "Welcome to
Softsqueeze" message however it then auto starts a series of credits and
acknowledgements preceded by a "loading credits" progress bar, and followed
by "written by: Richard Titmuss", "Acknowlegements: help and support ...",
"name/testing/support... ", "skinning," "PCM support, Dolf Dykstra", etc.,
and then finally "stopping". The cycle repeats in about 1 sec after that
without any apparent way to end the cycle. :-)

I hope this is clearer now.

One other thing - I can, using the regular Slimserver browser interface,
stream music to softsqueeze player even when it's in this mode. I just
cannot interact with it directly.

Regards,
Mike

Right, you have found the 'easter egg' that Graham added to the
excession skin last Easter. I had completely forgotten about that!

I think that the layout of your windows has got mixed up. First close
the credits window using the small grey down arrow at the bottom left
of the remote control (you'll need look closely!). I think you will
find the main display is hiding underneath the remote control, move the
remote control out of the way by dragging the window while pressing
Ctrl (or apple key on a osx).

Regards,
Richard

Wow! Excellent diagnosis. The combo of my window layout getting mixed up
along with the easter egg really thru me for a loop!

Thanks!
