hi all,

i love to use slimserver to stream to my laptop when i'm working. my IP
changes every day, so before streaming i have to edit the server to
forget the old IP, and set up the new IP to stream at 128K.

is there a way to have slimserver remember the MAC address rather than
the IP address of a network card? i thought it does this for the slimp3
(according to changelogs), but it doesn't work for my wireless card when
away from home.

Use a hostname instead of the IP address. If your router is getting that
new address every day, use some service like dyndns.org

the issue isn't with the server address changing. the machine running
the slimserver is static, the clients that are connecting to it are
dynamic.

Are you using Winamp or some other musicplayer to listen to the SlimServer
stream? Try SoftSqueez instead. It should be remembered by some (fake) MAC
address. You can find it in the help section of your SlimServer web
interface.
