View Full Version : No More BBC Streaming Radio?

As of maybe 3 days ago, I stopped being able to receive BBC World Service and Radio 4 on my Squeezebox Boom. There were two ways to initially tune them in, one through the BBC App for Squeezebox, and also just by Squeezebox's search function. I had them on presets for years. Now, nothing.

I'm assuming BBC has stopped publishing those stream URLs. Is there anyway to tune them in?

A weird thin on this forum, too, is that a search of "BBC" yields nothing.

Thanks

Peter

BBC MP3 URLs should still work for thos who use mysqueezebox.com
They still work OK for my through BBC app on my LMS (whic is fed from mysqueezebox.com)

I think you had a network glitch and it will be ok after caches expire.

If you have a local LMS - the BBCiPlayer plugin has a fuller choice of ways to play.

IIRC The forum search basically ignores most three letter search terms. Use google and "site:forums.slimdevices.com " and your search term for a better search.

My mistake. My Sophos XG firewall decided out of the blue that the streams are undesirable. Same with mysqueezebox.com. When I deactivated the web filter, it all worked again. I'll turn it back on and whitelist them.

Boom was able to register, and BBC was able to stream when I whitelisted these urls in the firewall's webfilter. Sophos decided to block them in the last few days. I'm not sure if all of these needed to be added or not but here they

mysqueezebox.com
bbc.co,uk
llnwd.net
opml.radiotime.com

Can you give an example ? My UTM 9.6 seems to allow streams OK

Just test BBC Streaming Radio and it's working fine. You need those (above) URL (https://obd2scanners.org/launch/crp129-review/) and do whitelist too.

You need all these URL's and a few more.

mysqueezebox.com is Logitech - needed for radio to get menus etc.
bbc.co.uk - obvious
llnwd.net is a CDN for the radio - you may also need akamaized.net which is the other main CDN for BBC
radiotime.com - this provides searches and plaing of intyernet radio stations and some podcasts.

You could need bbci.co.uk for some streams or metadata - not sure if it is needed for MP3 streams.

I am using the default Web policy on my Sophos XG. Out of the box it doesn't have all rules enabled. I was tshooting something else and turned off the ones that were turned on, and when done, I turned ALL of them back on, including the workplace productivity and similar. That's likely why I stopped getting BBC radio, and the ability to connect the Boom to mysqueezebox at all.

So I turned off the rules that aren't enabled by default.

But I still created exceptions for the urls mentioned in this thread.
