It appears that although I can access iTunes and play most songs that I have
on it, I can't play any songs that I have purchased and downloaded from the
iTunes store!

Are there any third party software that will alow me to do this?

Thanks,
Gordy in MA

The long and not very efficient way is to burn them onto a cd-rw and
re-rip them.

You can use Hymn and after import the files in iTunes and convert them
to MP3 with iTunes.

Hi Gordy.

The key to this is the DRM that Apple put around everything you download
from iTMS.

It can be removed, either by (in an officially sanctioned sense) burning
the music to CD, and re-ripping it. Alternatively, I believe that this
link might help:

http://www.hymn-project.org

You should get rid of the DRM protections anyway - as they're not in
your best interests. Imagine a scenario where Apple decide they don't
want to bother with iTMS any more, and you had cause to rebuild your
machine - because Apple hold the keys for this music - you wouldn't have
access any more to music that you'd legitimately 'bought'. So... unlock
it now while you still can - that way at least you'll be able to use it,
no matter what. And it'll be a fringe benefit that you can listen to it
with slimserver, too ;)
