Have I been doing some low-level whingeing here
recently? Can I take some of it back? I have finally
got Slimserver and Musicmagic working together and at
last Squeezebox is starting to do more than my old
Winamp setup.
In the end I removed SuSE and installed RedHat - SuSE
is undoubtably a good distribution, but it does things
in a slightly funny way (to a novice), Redhat just
works - I was able to install SQLlite and the DBI
modules and get a nightly 6.0 to install and run.
It works, but it is horribly unstable and has not run
for more than 20 minutes at a time yet without locking
up or dropping the sound, but it works.
Can anyone point me at a reasonably stable recent 6.0?

6.0 is by its very definition, unstable. There is no 'stable' build that anyone
can point to. If all you want is MusicMagic, then you would be wanting to find
a build from Nov 24 through Nov 29 which was prior to the branching of 5.4.1
and 6.0. Slim Devices used to host a large number of nightly builds going
back, but recently that has been trimmed down for some reason. I think it
would be nice to host maybe ONE extra build from these dates so that MusicMagic
users could have something to play with. 6.0 improves in leaps every day, but
you still have to face a number of errors and wiping your database quite
frequently.

Bart,

Can you post some of the details about the problems that you had, or
file them on http://bugs.slimdevices.com/

6.0 development is going along quickly, and every bug report will help
get things in shape...
