Hi,

I am using the RSS feeds of the forum software to track the activity in the different boards.

Unfortunately there seems to be a problem with the forum software since the end of August and the feeds are not updated any more :-(.

Does anyone have similar problems? Can someone take a look pleas and maybe fix the problem? Michael, can you do this or who is responsible for the forum software?

Cheers and thanks for taking a look and sorry if this is the wrong list to post this to,

Schoepp

Hmm... I'm following the mailing list - which has developed some
randomness, too. Sometimes messages take days to be delivered. Maybe
it's really time to look into this. Thanks for the heads-up.

I discovered this new thread via feedly.com, my choice of RSS reader.

Edit: Using https://forums.slimdevices.com/external.php?type=RSS2 which was a bit slow responding when tested directly.

But your posting still hasn't shown up, has it?...

No, my posting is not there, but.... I see this feed as a feed informing me of new threads in the forum (not every new post in any thread). And that is how I have seen it (and it has worked for me) in the many many years I have used it via some feed reader (bloglines, google reader, feedly).

A bit strange thought, that the text content now seems to be updated in the "RSS item" with your reply when looking directly at the RSS feed (https://forums.slimdevices.com/external.php?type=RSS2). But feedly.com only shows the first version of the "RSS item" it has found, not if the text-content in same "RSS item" is updated later. So for me the feed has always only been about informing about a new thread, not every new post in any thread (I subscribe for notifications via emails when there are new postings in the threads I have posted in myself - like this one). The link in the "RSS item" always leads me to the latest post in the thread though (thanks to "&goto=newpost"): https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?109509-RSS-feeds-of-the-forum-software&goto=newpost

Thanks, the feeds seem to work propper again.

I am also subscribed to the mailinglists and mail would be my prefered medium, but there are some boards / forums which are not synced with a regarding mailinglist. For those boards I am using the RSS feeds and if a topic is interesting to me I subscribe to it to get noticed of all postings and not only the initial message.

Cheers and thanks for your support!

Which ones would that be? I'm using mailing lists all the time...

A quick check gave me the following forums / boards which are not synced to any mailinglist, at least no one I know or I am subscribed to:

- 3rd party hardware
- Audiophiles
- Beginners
- General Discussion
- Logitech Mediaserver
- Ripping / Encoding / Transcoding / Tagging
- Squeezebox Radio and maybe also the other player related boards

Did I miss a list where all posts to the boards above are going to?

Cheers,

Thanks for this address. I know all this lists and IIRC I was subscribed to them in the past, but IIRC I still missed some messages. I have subscribed again and will have a look if all messages in the RSS feeds also appear in the mailinglists.

Make sure you do not subscribe to digests only. It's what I'm relying on
every day.

Lately, I assess probability of e-mail message delivery at around 2%. Based on one message received out of many tens of messages expected... :)
Not accurate, but something seems to be adrift.

I don't think I missed many (if any), but sometimes they're arriving out
of order, and/or delayed.

Well, I posted to two "new" threads yesterday, and received e-mail thread summaries overnight. Just as it should be. So, if there is a problem, it would seem to be with "existing" thread subscriptions. I shall keep an eye out.
