View Full Version : Cannot Connect to mysqueezebox.com from Squeezebox Radio

I can no longer access mysqueezebox.com (i.e. I don't see all the menu items for example, Search) from my Logitech Squeezebox Radio and the WiFi icon on the display is 'red'. The Radio is connected to my wireless network. I can access mysqueezebox.com from my browser. What does the 'red' icon indicate? Any thoughts on why this is happening or any ideas that will help me resolve this issue? Thanks.

Red means the radio cannot connect to mysqueezebox.com - obviously. As
for the reasons:

- did you try a wired connection?
- did anything about your network change recently?
- did you try to power down the Radio and router?

(bonus question: are you the same person who tweeted me about this issue?)

I have the same issue. I have one radio using a wireless connection and one using a wired connection. Both radio's have the red icon in the lower right corner. Nothing has changed with my computer/network. I'm located on Long Island.

Add me to the list, lost connectivity last night. Has been driving me crazy trying to troubleshoot, then found this forum.

Same symptoms, red wifi icon, network diags pass, i can ping the radio etc...

Network info shows its registered, ping okay , tcp ports 3483 and 9000 okay.

If i watch that window, the server ip address for mysqueezebox.com keeps changing slowly,
currently i see 54.234.196.19 54.80.75.58, 54.158.162.59

Location: Maryland (US)

Software: 7.7.3r16676 (anything newer??)

Thanks!

MichaelThanks for investigating.

I have 3 Squeezebox Radios that all died in the wee hours yesterday and this has been driving me crazy, figuring that they were now defunct.
Much network fiddling and resets of all devices and frustration ensued.

It appears that things have indeed healed and my radios are all working again now!

My Squeezebox BOOM has not been working properly for several days here in N. CA

"Can't connect" I can unplug it and try again...network is fine as it connects thru my wifi ok and then "connecting"....NOPE! Nothing
Repeat and after several attempts it will work again........BUT it is very slow to respond. Must wait 15 to 60 seconds to get a response...all menu items...slow.

Hope they replace the hardware for my area soon.

BOOMERBOBI did notice that in order for my radios to come back to life I had to do a factory reset. Perhaps there was some networking stuff cached that couldn't heal on its own with a reconnect. Even after the first radio was up and running for a day, I went to work on another one and it couldn't be persuaded to connect correctly.

Once I did the factory reset, the second radio connected right away to MySqueezebox and worked fine.

factory reset? I have done the hold the PWR Button down for a few seconds and then go thru the network connection, etc. and it gets to "connecting" to MySB.com and then it may connect or may not.

Even after connected it is very slow in response to any buttons pushed. Sometimes no response, sometimes a minute and then boom it moves.

This connection on/off also happens to my phone APP SqueezeControl/SB Player. SB Player will connect and then get a "command status error" and "reconnecting" about every 20 seconds.

BoomerBob - would you mind sharing your player's MAC address with me (PM

can find some relation between the two.

I do have an Open Support Ticket on this issue.

Last night, 4/15 PM, while the time was displaying I did get the Boom streaming a station. While it continued to stream the audio the display showed the station data...however it was for a different station! While streaming the audio, the display switched to showing... "can't connect...left to go back, push knob to" That eventually went away and the display started showing the wrong station again on display. Very unusual behavior. Pressing the Pwr Button, took about 30 seconds and then switched off. My phone APP "SB Player" still shows about every 20 seconds, "command stream error".."reconnecting". The Squeeze Connect APP used with SB Player no longer works due to loss of connection. So, not just my BOOM radio issue.

Thanks - and Bingo! Your device is one of 13 unlucky units which are
connected to this lagging instance. My suggestion would be you totally
power it off, and leave it off for an hour or two. Then you try again.
By then the load-balancer will hopefully have forgotten your unit and
will connect you with a working instance.

We're working on it. Seriously!

Just have to wonder about the phone APP and why it does not work.

This all happened when others had disconnect problems last Tuesday/Wednesday.

Thank you very much for these details! It kind of matches what we're
seeing: that service instances is handling the slimproto connection for
your device. Controllers (such as the SB Player) would use a different
protocol, and rely on the database to tell what slimproto service
instance the player was connected to. Now that particular service
instance is complaining about requests for players which it believes are
not connected to it. As if the database was out of sync. Or the player
was actually connected to some other server/instance.

Unplugged the Squeezebox BOOM yesterday and replugged into power after being off for 13 hours.
Unfortunately, the same problems existed upon trying for an hour fussing with the BOOM...very slow response to all buttons pushed if any.

So, after an hour I managed to get it to turn off with the pwr button...took many attempts.

Overnight, I noticed the clock on and no "connecting" on display like I had seen before.
So, this morning, the Alarm went off and the station started playing as setup!
I then tried other stations and buttons and all worked immediately without any delays or errors.

It is now working properly once again!

Thanks to all for the hand holding and work to get things going again.

Two radios stopped working as described by others in this thread. No changes to either or to the home network. Grace Digital WIFI radio continues to work fine. But both Squeezebox Radios stopped and have the same problem.

I connected them to Ethernet cable directly to the Verizon router and they do not work. I tried to connect from a desktop browser to http://www.mysb.com/ and can not, I get a site not found error on Verizon network.

When I use a cell phone and create a WIFI hotspot on the T-Moble network, the Squeezebox radios both work fine, just as they had on the Verizon network until yesterday.

Hope that network specific information helps someone!

Cheers.

Both of my Radios cannot connect to mysqueezebox.com.
Both of my Booms are connected and working properly.

I know there have been problems recently. Is there a process I should attempt to get reconnected?
I have shut down both radios and restarted (holding power button until they go off and then restarting). I've also done a factory reset on one of the radios. Still no connection.

Thanks for any assistance!

Yes. using verizon Fios with Fios router but not the WIFI part of the FIOS router. Using Apple Airport Router as I have been for a few years.
Squeezebox booms are working fine as they always have.
Radios have red Wifi symbol.

Also rebooted WIFI with no impact. All other WIFI devices working fine.

I suspect the issue is with Verizon. Yesterday, I had frequent internet outages with them lasting a minute or two and then noticed the Squeezebox issue when I tired to use it in the evening. With the T-Mobile ISP, there is no issue and the Squeezebox works fine.

If that is true, that doesn't leave us in a very good spot.

If it is a verizon issue you'd think there would be a much more significant level of activity on this forum as well as the Logitech forum about the inability to connect. Verizon is a very large provider. I don't see much activity in either forum today.

I know. What are you using for your DNS Server? Are you using the default DNS servers provided by Verizon or a third party DNS Server? I am using a third party DNS server with verizon but not with T-Mobile.

ISPs do a lot of complicated things to route and prioritize traffic. Something was reconfigured yesterday at Verizon or maybe with my DNS server vendor, IMHO.

You can specify or change your DNS server several different places. I did it in the Verizon router so that my entire home uses a different DNS Server. You can also do it at an individual device such as a PC or phone. I don't think Squeezebox lets you do it but I am not sure.

I had chosen a third party DNS Server because if its attention to blocking sites for phishing and allowing me to whitelist and blacklist sites. You are fine with the default DNS servers, but if you want to learn more about DNS Servers, here is a good link:

One radio shows a connected WIFI symbol in lower right hand corner of screen. Very limited menu options which include Now Playing, My Music, Settings, Networking, and that's it. If I click My Music, it tries to connect to LMS on my W10 computer but cannot connect.

My other radio has a red WIFI symbol in the lower right hand corner with menu options which include Now Playing, My Music, Radio, Search, My Apps, App Gallery, Favorites and Settings. Clicking any one of these will cause it to try to connect to LMS on my computer but cannot connect.

If I turn of LMS and use my computer to go to www.mysqueezebox.com, both radios appear as connected! Each radio can be controlled from the Remote Control capability on the mysqueezebox.com website. The remote control capability on mysb.com allows me to select Pandora stations, podcasts, etc. However, I cannot control the volume, nor can I turn the radios off. That is so bizarre. Especially that one of the radios is showing a RED WIFI symbol, which is supposed to mean that it is not connected to mysqueezebox.com and yet I can control it from the mysqueezebox.com's remote control capability.

I'm not sure where to go with any of this because I've never seen behavior like this.

Even a simple thing like connecting to LMS (the new 7.9.1 version) is not possible but this may be just an odd firewall issue. Fact remains, I don't know how to fix even this simple issue.

Happy to answer any questions in trying to explore the issues.

It is Verizon

I thought so. Everyone that answered my question says Verizon. I made not changes to my home network and two Squeezboxes stopped working at the same time but both work fine from a WIFI hotspot outside the Verizon network (made with a T-Moble cell phone.)

It is a Verizon issue, there is nothing wrong with our radios - they have not had a software update in years.

In the last week, I have experienced many short internet disruptions with Verizon- they are making network changes and one of their changes affected our radios at least in the NY/NJ area. People affected have said they were on Long Island or New Jersey. Where are you using Verizon? It may be only in one region, or it could be nationwide. It has affected both their FIOS wired internet and their cell phone internet connections.

Hi Michael,
Similar problem experimented here (Canada) with a SB Radio(X-R001). Tried some of the recommendations: removing power for 12+hours, same red icon using wifi; 2-3 Factory Resets, same red icon; the tried wired and cell phone hotspot (vs wireless): same red icons. Re-downloaded & re-installed the SW on the radio with success: network connectivity OK. Checked the mysqueezebox.com IP in the radio and able to ping both of them. Able to login to my account on mysqueezebox.com website.
Any other recommendations you could provide ? I sent you my MAC via email in case you can try further investigation from that side.
Thanks,

I have been asking people here whether they are using Verizon and so far all have said yes and that they are in the northeast USA. My squeezebox works fine with a WIFI hotspot from my T-Mobile phone, but not with Verizon FIOS. Others with a Verizon phone have said that the Verizon phone hotspot also does not work.

I called Verizon and they said they would be willing to run a trace if I could provide to them the IP address or the URL that the Squeezebox radios are trying to reach to access the favorites and other data. I do not believe it is exactly "mysqueezebox.com" as I can reach that fine with a browser on the Verizon network.

Any clues? The Verizon tech will call me back in a few hours to see if I have an IP address from the radio for him to test.

Interesting that you are in Canada and presumably using an ISP other than Verizon. My device works fine with a T-Mobile hotspot but not with Verizon. I spoke with Verizon and they said they would be willing to run a trace if we can find the IP address that the radios are trying to reach. Verizon suggested that the issue may not be with their network but with a device between their network and the intended destination of the radios.

Hi there

Im sorry to hear about your trouble. Unfortunately I wont be able to look into this before tomorrow.

But as for what host: players are using baby.squeezenetwork.com (Radio) or fab4.sq... its only aliases to www.mysqueezebox.com.

I have the same issue - my Squeezebox doesn't show the normal menu, only Now Playing, My Music and Settings, and I can't connect to Internet radio or my favorites. There's a red icon in the bottom right hand corner, whether I'm connected via Wifi or ethernet. I can get Internet radio to work via the Web Remote Control, but the "Orange Squeeze" app on my Android phone doesn't connect to MySqueezebox so I can't get favorites from that either. I've done a software upgrade on the Squeezebox, still no difference. This only started happening 1 or 2 days ago

Strange that I can get there with the browser but the Squeezebox can not get there on Verizon, but both can get there on T-Mobile.

What protocols are used for communication by the radios?
What ports are used for communication by the radios?

np for tomorrow.... down for 10+ days and can wait a few more ;-)
Able to ping with success both 54.158.162.59 and 54.80.75.58, and dns resolved both above addresses to the first IP here. As said, IP connectivity seems fine, so maybe suspect more the change on the backend-end side. Why I tried to Power Off for 12-15 hours to see if my unit would be forgotten by the load balancer and connected to a working instance. Maybe my device was also part of this lagging instance. No luck yet. I'm into another 2-3 hours of Power Off to test it a second time. Will update later with results. Thanks.

Just reiterating my continuing issues on my two radios (no problems with Booms).
With the very unusual ability to control both radios from the mysqueezebox.com's remote control capability.
Red WIFI icon on both radios.
Limited menu availability on both.

Verizon FIOS provider - Long Island, NY.
Tried setting up a hotspot on my cell phone but no connection there either (Cell provider is Verizon Wireless).

Not urgent; just very appreciative of you looking into it ... Thanks!

I have the same issue for 3 days now...red wireless icon. Cannot connect to mysqueezebox error, but i can from my computer. No changes to network, rebooted everything, factory reset....same issue.

I'm inn New Zealand...so definitely not a verizon problem!

Any help would be appreciated :)

I had gotten that call back from the tech at Verizon and his view was the same as mine - because I am able to get to the servers through by browsers with Verizon, it is not a Verizon issue. The fact that we now have people with other ISPs and from other countries with the same issue reinforces that it is not a Verizon issue. Strange that my radio works with the T-Mobile ISP but not the Verizon ISP.

The Verizon tech indicated that it is a server issue, something on the server or its network changed and is not allowing our radios to talk with it properly.

Hope that helps in some small way.

It would be really nice for Logitech to offer an update to the radio software so that this information is cached on the radio and so that the radios would work when there are server issues. I hope to use my radio for decades and have less confidence in Logitech's server being operational and supported for decades.

Thanks for your help!

I posted earlier, but I am still having trouble with my 2 squeeze box radios. Both have the wifi logo in red but says it is connected to the network. I have rebooted my router and the units. I have also done a reset to factory settings. Nothing has worked. I have seen in here a lot of these problems are coming from Verizon service providers but I do not have Verizon.

Just need some help here. Thanks

Both my radios are working now. What was the cause and what did you do to fix it? I bring the radios with me when I travel, so please confirm they will work in all countries not just the country where they are now.

Can we get a bug fix so that the vital information is cached on the radios and they can work when Logitech is down? Imagine if you could not make any cell phone calls if Apple.com (iOS_ or google.com (Android) was down. Really bad design from an otherwise competent company of Logitech.

Wow!!!
Both of my radios are working normally now! Great to have them back.
In addition, I had also posted that I could not connect to LMS 7.9.1 - It is probably related (not sure how) but I am able to connect to LMS now from both radios. So it was not a 7.9.1 problem.

Thanks so much, Michael, for any intervention on your part. I truly appreciate it.

Curious about the cause.

Most of our infrastructure is running on outdated server types and need
to be replaced. In moving to newer types of systems we missed some
crucial piece which needed a different configuration than the old
systems. Only a small fraction of our users was affected by this issue.
Thanks to your providing your players' MAC addresses I was able to
identify the server in question.

Thank you for fixing it! I love my Squeezebox radios and have many other Logitech products including this G110 programmable keyboard.

I spent some time reading through this forum and it appears that you are a one man show keeping our radios working. My deepest and most sincere thanks to you for that.

It is a major disappointment that my two radios will not work autonomously without mysqueezebox.com - the favorites were not cached and even the presets would not function! It became a totally worthless device with zero functionality.

Thank you again for bringing it back to life! I owed a Roku internet radio and will never purchase another Roku product because of the way Roku abandoned that product. So far, I am still buying Logitech products largely do to your personal efforts.

When it comes to this type of issue (low level server infrastructure
issues) I can count on trusty helpers in the IT department. I did not
fix this myself. Only transferred crucial information back and forth.

This is very interesting. During the time I was unable to connect my two radios to mysqueezebox.com, I was also not able to connect them to LMS 7.9.1.
When connection to msb.com was fixed, I was then able to connect to LMS 7.9.1

I initially would have thought that I could connect to LMS without regard to my ability to connect to mysb.com. But the outage showed me that I couldn't count on that.

Should I expect to be able to connect to LMS if no radio connection exists to mysb.com?

I'm very happy it is all working now but just a bit confused.

Excellent. Confirms my initial understanding and clearly a positive as a number of the initial apps (like Sirius) support have disappeared. Ability to continue to use my music collection and use the apps in LMS very important.

So great to have everything working I pulled my third boom out of the closet and, after a long time of being disconnected, it was up and playing in about a minute. Like a reunion. Three booms and two radios.

Thanks again to you and the team.

No. The other wireless networks are my neighbor's WIFI signals. My network is the Verizon ISP as before.

Two squeezebox radios, which were fixed yesterday now exhibiting the following behavior:

Both radios connected (White WIFI symbol, full main menu, show up as "connected" on the mysqueezebox.com website).

Clicking on "My Apps" brings up list of apps.

Clicking on any App (eg Pandora, Podcasts), just gives a continual spinning symbol like it is trying to connect.

Clicking on "My Music" to connect to LMS 7.9.1 doesn't work. Tries to connect for a little while and then a "Try Again" option comes up.

Rebooted radio (shutting off and letting it come on) didn't do anything to change this behavior.

Booms seem ok. Problem specific to two radios.

Exactly the same symptoms with me after working for 1 day. Initially, I was getting the red antenna and replied to indicate that... then I edited my reply above to state that it is now white antenna but no funtions.

Additionally, when I select any of my presets, I see a screen that now says in a single line " Nothing". It actually says that word, "Nothing" without the quotes.

Switzerland is 6 hours ahead of ET in North America, with any luck, this will be fixed by breakfast. ;)

So, it appears that some ISPs are doing something weird...any ideas? What do I tell my ISP tech support...chances are I will spend hours on the phone just trying to explain the basics to them....

Having the same problem. Tried restarting router and device multiple times and cant play anything all day today.

It goes between these states, depending on time of day:

1) Red wifi icon
Cant connect to anything

2) White wifi icon
Cant control through mysqueezebox.com
Same as previous poster when I select any preset, the screen says:
Current Playlist
Nothing

I dont have any problems with my wifi network on any other device.

I cant play any station. Never happened in years of using it. My device has become a useless brick.

I've had the same issue for the past 2 days. Wi-Fi is connected, click on Podcast, Radio or Tunein and just spins and spins. I think Logitech gave up on this platform long ago. Seems to be a dead category as most people are just using their smartphones for audio and alarms.

Sad.

I don't think there is such a thing. I also have a grace digital and while it has its advantages, the Logitech is a better device, better UI and has Tunein whereas grace digital uses the inferior reciva.com and iHeart.

If you have an Android, Podcast Addict is an outstanding podcast app. You can buy an Android on eBay for less than $50 and don't need phone service, just use the WIFI. Get one with Bluetooth and a set of Bluetooth speakers or bluetooth earbuds. If you only have a half dozen stations you listen to regularly, consider Tasker, Intent-Radio and Shorty for a great commercial free radio. When I get in my car, the phone connects to the car's bluetooth and automatically launches the last stream played - all hands free.

In short, there are some good alternatives but they require some tinkering. Squeezebox was best. Long Live Squeezebox!

That was my initial thought, but I had a long talk with Verizon FIOS over the weekend and they assured me they do not. Logitech had fixed it for 24 hours and told me in this forum that they had an issue with a hardware upgrade that they had done on their end. Someone in this forum could not get it working with a Verizon Wireless cell phone, so it is interesting that you could. People in Canada and New Zealand have also reported the same issue - different ISPs. The Verizon people told me that if I can get to the site in my browser (I can) then it is nothing to do with them, it is an issue on the server or the internal network that the server is a part of (ports, and protocols).

Thanks for the feedback. After doing some research I'm actually thinking of replacing the Squeezebox radio with an Echo Spot since I use it exclusively as a bedside device. It seems to do most of what I want but I think if you request a podcast it only plays the latest episode which I can live with. The camera on a bedside device is a little bit odd but I'm not too shy.

Has anyone tried the Echo Spot for this use case?

Yes. Yesterday: White WIFI, both show up as connected on mysb.com, both provide a full menu selection but selecting any app generates a spinning thing like attempting to connect.
And the most disturbing thing is during these recent outages, players could not cannot connect to LMS (7.9.1). Why is this disturbing? Because I've always taken comfort that if mysb.com is taken down permanently, I'd still be able to utilize LMS.

But as of this morning, radios seem to be back to normal working condition.

I am very disappointed that Logitech bought the company that made the Squeezebox, more disappointed that they ran the product into the ground but to still require connection to the mothership to gather data on our listening habits long after the product has been discontinued is hard to forgive.

Unless you use Music services that require mysb.com (I don't), then you do not need mysb.com. I've run LMS without mysb.com integration for the last 5-ish years, no problem with Radio stations or local music or plugins like BBC iPlayer, Spotty, etc..

Pictures below show one button press to run LMS without mysb.com (piCorePlayer OS), LMS settings page has no mysb.com tab.

Hi, first post..hello everyone! I'm glad i'm not the only one having this connection/sync issue with Squeezebox Radios.

--> Michael, i did not see any buttons on this forum thread to Private Message you. Perhaps you can PM me and i'll reply with MAC addresses of BOTH of my Squeezbox Radios?

Details:
Continent: US
Player: SqueezeBox Radios (2 of them)
Firmware versions: 7.7.3 r16676
Hardware versions: 5
Uptimes of both Radios: 2+ weeks or more

Problem description:
Time of Problem: has happened in last 24 hours on both of my two Radios. Yesterday at this posting time i was able to awaken to the sound of my SqueezeBox Radio alarm i had set.

cannot play any Favorites
Alarms are not available
cannot play any apps (spinning wheel)
Both ethernet and wifi icons are RED

Troubleshooting performed
- powered OFF radios, leaving OFF for 20 mins , then power both radios ON again.
- rebooted home router
- verified home router issued IP to each Squeezebox Radio
- Run network diagnostics on each Squeezebox Radio successfully
- disconnected wifi on one Radio, and connected via Ethernet cable to home router
- read this thread ;)

I hope there's a chance i can get my awesome SqueezeBox Radios both working again.

thanks in advance

It is. It is scratched on the bottom of one of my radios, so I logged into my Verizon router and went to the list of devices. Most routers will show you the MAC address of each device connected.

My Squeezebox Radio is working again. It didn't just start playing by itself, though. When I turned it on, there was an option to return to setup, or some such. After taking that, the home menu options for Internet Radio and My Apps had returned and I could access my Pandora stations again. Very nice - but I've got my fingers crossed!

I can't seem to PM you, but I would truly appreciate your help! After many years of faithful service, I'm running into the kinds of problems that others are describing here.

Problem:
The Squeezebox Radio had a white wireless icon but had lost its favorites, most menus I can only a couple of levels deep, and I am unable to control it from mysqueezebox.com

Fixes attempted:
I performed a software update, and tried unplugging and replugging the device in, without any change. Then, I performed a factory reset and reconnected to my wireless network. I then noticed that mysqueezebox.com could see that the name of the device had changed to a default name, but I was still unable to control it or play any music.

My info:
I'm in New York, USA
I have the Squeezebox Radio
Its MAC address is 00:04:20:2a:6d:1b

I hope you can help! Thank you in advance!

I know you are asking someone else but I wanted to confirm that my two radios are working great again today and that I sincerely appreciate your help. Are you a Logitech employee or independent like us?

What is the difference between the seeing the red antenna icon when connected to the local WIFI and seeing the white antenna icon when connected? I did not study the symptoms but it would be useful to know so we can diagnose better in the future.

Any insight on why after the red icon, you got the radios working for one day then on day two we got the white icon and they were not working again? What happened? I really would like to get it documented so that if you move on in 10 years and our radios stop working, we can point to the this blog.

TBH: I think I've learned this these days, but didn't remember. At some
point we had more colors. Like yellow was network ok, but no connection
to server, green was only controller connection, but not streaming etc.
Today we have white and red only. But they can mean various things...

I think white today is supposed to be "ok". But it's not in all cases.
Every Radio/Touch has two persistent connections to the server. One is
for the streaming control ("slimproto"), the other for the UI control
("jived"). When we had the red type half-connected state, slimproto was
connected. Players could be controlled using the web UI, but not
on-device, because jived was not connected. This happened when the
slimproto service was not reachable from the jived service on some
instances.

The white type half-connected state we saw more recently was the
inverse: jived connected, but slimproto somehow not working. The reason
for this I still haven't figured out. Maybe some load-balancer which had
not picked up some changes and was still sending slimproto connections
to dead servers or something.

> Any insight on why after the red icon, you got the radios working for

As I said I'm not sure I understand the second part of the issues we
had. Maybe it was just an artifact of rebooting/replacing too many
pieces at the same time.

I doubt mysb.com will still be around in 10 years when I've moved along.
At that point you would have to run LMS. Which is a different story, as
it servers all types of connections itself.

On Windows you'd have to manipulate the service registration. I've been
out of the Windows game for a while... I'm not sure whether you could do
this from the service manager or need to hack the registry.

But that's way off-topic here anyway. Please start your own thread
asking specific questions. Or just leave it alone until mysb.com has
gone away. That day that will be a hot topic :-).

I have read this a few times. And I'd love to believe it is true. But .... during the recent outage, I could not connect to LMS On my Windows based PC while my connection to mysqueezebox.com was down.

So, my conclusion is - if mysqueezebox.com goes away at some point, my radios will not be able to connect to LMS on my PC. Apparently, that conclusion might be incorrect.

Either my conclusion is incorrect or the statement that "LMS runs anyway" is not true in all circumstances.

Maybe the reality lies somewhere in between and as Michael noted, I should put my concern aside and address it when Logitech actually pulls the proverbial plug.

Cannot have been related, as LMS would only be using mysb's web service.
But the problems you've seen (as outlined elsewhere) had nothing to do
with the web service, but with the direct player connection to mysb.

It's not true when you want to use Pandora or some of the other services
not supported by 3rd parties.

Yep. And run LMS with the --nomysqueezebox parameter to see how it
continues to work. Block mysb.com on your router. Manipulate your DNS.
There are many ways to waste some time proving what others claim to have
tested already :-P

It would be awesome before that point, for Logitech to release the code for the radio the way Google releases the code for Android. As an open source project, it would bring a tremendous amount of good will and cost Logitech nothing.

The local LMS solution works great except that it is not easy or recommended expose that server to the radio when the radio is not on the home network. It would be great to cache key data so that the radio still works when the server is not available.

Love the product. Despite some shortcomings, it is still better than my grace digital or anything else on the market! We really appreciate your help on keeping them running!

It's the basis of JiveLite etc.

You don't have to expose your radio or anything to use it. It's running
in your network. Connect your radio to it.

Awesome that that code was released! Absolutely awesome!

I mean when traveling to visit friends, go on vacation or travel on business, the radio will not see the LMS because the LMS is not exposed to it when the radio is on the public internet rather than the home network... that means that the radio will be useless outside the home if mysq.com goes dark.

Yep. And run LMS with the --nomysqueezebox parameter to see how it
continues to work. Block mysb.com on your router. Manipulate your DNS.
There are many ways to waste some time proving what others claim to have
tested already :-P

I prefer to just listen to music.

Thanks, Michael.
I've narrowed it down to one question specific to the your quoted text above. I'll start a new thread with this question in the Logitech Media Server section.
I'm sure there is a simple answer.

I have two UE squeezebox's both stopped working at the same time, powered down for several hours, did a factory reset, the home menu in now very different. The wifi icon is white, the time and date is correct. I use ATT Uverse and router, squeezebox shows connected. The radio's went down about three days ago 5/8/18. When I click on an item it just shows a circle spinning.
I live in SW Michigan if that helps....................

None of my Squeezebox radios work although I believe I am connected. See previous reply's.
uesmartradio.com I can access it but can not do anything with it.
The remote control does not work.
My app on my cell phone does not work.
I downloaded the music library and can not get that to work.
It looks like to me (what little knowledge I have) is that I can connect but that is it nothing works for me.
Looking for some assistance.

What do you consider "partially"?

BTW: it would probably be reasonable to start a new thread, as this one
is causing confusion due to the mysb vs. uesr difference.

That's cool if you never leave your home with your radio. Try taking it to a freind's house, a public space, or on vacation and I think it will be 100% non-functional. You've converted it to an "INTRAnet radio" from its advertized "INTERnet radio".

Although I believe the usage case for packing up ones internet radio for travel is extremely rare...... I have done so successfully a number of times.
I've also seen over the years a number of SB users post about regularly bringing their SB players to their vacation/holiday/weekend homes.

Any private network with a simple encryption pass phrase works fine (basically every home network). The public networks requiring a browser (hotels etc..) won't work because SB players have no browser.

Even then, public networks requiring a browser interface will work if you use your laptop and tether/network-share your SB player to the laptop.
Something I'd never both with myself, but entirely doable. ;)

hi, I am experiencing the same connection problems as reported in this Thread and tried all the suggested rebooting etc.

The URL's work from a browser and the SB Radio's can connect to my wifi and LMS.

Tonight my X-R0001 Squeezebox Radio froze on a Christmas channel (181.FM). No sound, no working buttons.
When I powered down and back up, there was only a truncated Home Menu of NOW PLAYING/MY MUSIC/SETTINGS.
I reinstalled the firmware and reset to Factory Settings. No change. No clock now, either.

I'm in Philadelphia, PA. I'll PM my MAC ID.

After factory reset, connected via cable to my ISP router, the SB Radio fails to connect to the mysqueezebox.com server on the following addresses:

34.243.157.154
34.244.221.118
34.245.154.142
34.247.12.245
52.208.195.129
52.215.52.41

TCP port:3483 and 9000

It does connect to my LMS (running on my Synology NAS) and I am able to load the Favorites from mysqueezebox.com.

However, I cannot switch libraries and connect to mysqueezebox.com

I reset the router and the three Home Menu items reappeared, BUT this time when I hit the Home Button it connected to mysqueezebox.com and like magic, the normal Menu appeared. I was able to program three Easy Listening stations and three Christmas stations in the presets.

Interesting: I'm seeing two Radios in your profile. And both seem to
have been connected yesterday (according to timestamps in the database).

You mention both wired and wireless connection. Did you test both?

What is your network setup? Are you using DHCP? What is your LAN's DNS?
What is the device using (see Settings/Advanced/Analysis or similar)?

To be quite honest I believe it's a networking issue on your end. A user
who can name two DNS providers knows how to tweak stuff. And
unfortunately this often leads to somewhat broken setups... I don't want
to blame you. But please double or triple check your network setup is
correct. Make sure the Radio is using the settings you expect it to use.

No. I bet there are about 100x more resets of any kind than are really required. No matter whether it's SB, router or your computer. I can't remember the last time I did factory reset any of my devices (router, access point, SB, various computers, Windows, Linux, macOS...). A restart, or correcting some invalid setting might have fixed the issue, too. A factory reset often just is a shortcut to get a clean base again.

Hi Michael, appreciate your prompt feedback and support.

The two devices you see connected are my two Radio's in Belgium. However, I have one in France that still does not connect where I am also using a SONOS streamer which works flawless. The DNS settings are on my (internal) router where all my devices are connected (MacBook, SONOS, SB Radio, PC, iPhones, etc.). I have by-passed my internal router by connecting the SB Radio with an ethernet cable to the ISP router. It all worked before for this device so something must have changed.

Why can it load the favorites from mysqueezebox.com but not switch to that library? or is this because it reads this information via the LMS?

I reviewed the firewall settings on my ISP router and removed all Ports Restrictions and enabled multicast. After a factory reset of my SB Radio, it connected to the mysqueezebox.com server and I can remotely control it from the web interface.

Thanks Michael for your support and guiding me in the troubleshooting. Your prompt feedback give me again confidence that Squeezeboxes still have a future :-)

Are you trying to connect the Squeezebox Radio to mysqueezebox.com from the Radio itself?

Can you connect and log in to mysqueezebox.com from a web browser? If you can, is your Radio showing as a Player and with what status.

Do you have LMS installed on a computer and have you tried to connect the Radio from the LMS web gui, under "Extras > Music Source > mysqueezebox.com"

Your location may help if others have the same problem.

It might be a good idea to disguise your MAC

Well, exposing your MAC might expose you to folk messing around with the player.

You don't say if you have LMS installed elsewhere, so I would suggest first trying the radio with LMS just to see if it still works.

I have used the Radio for years. I used to use it with LMS but havent for about 2 years (I also used 2 classics)
I have changed broadband (isp) suppliers recently but still use the same router (same one for last 2 years, but no classics) and wireless connection.
There maybe a linkage here, but I dont know what it is and none my other devices have had an issue

Hi George, if you have changed broadband (isp) suppliers recently then I suggest to check the firewall settings on the ISP router. I learnt a lesson that the settings on that router may block some ports that are used by the SB Radio. You should have received a username and password to manage these settings on the ISP router. Hope this helps.

This is a good sugestionfrom bioss

I recently had a small problem and reset my router but the problem remained.

I solved it by returning the router to its factory setting, performed the the initialisation routine again and was good to go.

On a further note, I have also experienced the problem of a web site not being available through any of my installed browsers (I knew the site was up and running). Tried cache clearing and all sorts and then changed the DNS setting on the router to Google and was able to connect.

The router was not the issue and I had already reset it to factory defaults previously.

But I did install the LMS, I logged in to mysqueezebox ok. This did not initially work and the Radio was still not seen.
What did work was going back into the setup for the Radio. I have not being able to switch libraries (I was seemingly beholden to my old one in a PC in storage).
However, having installed the LMS, when I went to switch libraries, it found the newly installed LMS and switched. Immediately the red wireless icon went white and I was away.

Glad to hear you can enjoy listening to your SB Radio again :)
However, I believe you are using the 'workaround' to connect via the LMS to the mysqueezebox.com server.
When you log in to mysqueezebox.com from a web browser you should see the status of the player. If it is disconnected, your router may still block the ports.
Anyway, the importance is that you found a way to make use of your device. Enjoy.

Yes you are quite correct, it is not connected. My firewall section says Normal and thats it. I have no idea where to find Ports or what to do to open them or what numbers to open, 9000 from memory, but not sure why I know that.

High, which allows DNS 53, HTTP 80, HTTP-S 443, IMAP-S 993, IPSec NAT-T 4500, NTP 123, POP3-S 995, SSH 22, SMTP 25, SMTP-S 465, Port for stb 8184, VoWIFI 500, 4500.

Medium, which allows AIM/ICQ 5190, DHCPv6 546, DNS 53, FTP-S 989, 990, HTTP 80, HTTP ALT 8080, HTTP-S 443, IMAP 143, IMAP-S 993, IPSec NAT-T 4500, NTP 123, POP3 110, POP3-S 995, RADIUS 1812, SMTP 25, SSH 22, SMTP-S 465, Steam 1725, Steam Friends 1200, Telnet-S 992, XBOX Live 3074 3074, World of Warcraft 3724, Yahoo Messenger 5050, Port for stb 8184, VoWIFI 500, 4500

Low, which allows all ports.

In my case, it is only the latter (Low) that makes the SB Radio connection to mysqueezebox.com work.

This may look somewhat technical but I am sharing it on the forum for other users that may want to dig deeper into the subject :)

Yes you are quite correct, it is not connected. My firewall section says Normal and thats it. I have no idea where to find Ports or what to do to open them or what numbers to open, 9000 from memory, but not sure why I know that.
Maybe its all too hard, but as you say at least I am enjoying it again.

George, if you are using a Windows OS, the control panel should look like this

I have been using my squeezebox for years without any issues, but for the last 6+ months, I have had intermittent problems with my squeezebox. The main issue is that I can't connect to mysqeezebox.com.
I have done a factory reset and restarted the router, but that didnt fix anything.

I am able to log into the website mysqeezebox.com from a computer on the same network as the squeezebox. After logging into the website, I click on the Player, and it shows "Oops! You don't appear to have any players registered to this account."

As a potential workaround, I installed Logitech Media server on my home PC and then tried to connect the squeezebox to the LMS, but when I do that, I get an error message on the squeezebox saying "player is already registered to another user"

Firewall

All outgoing ports are open
All incoming ports are blocked.

Everything is showing ok in the diagnostics tab

And it did show up there before?

Feel free to PM me your mysb username and I can look into this.

I only used mysqueezebox.com once when I initially bought the player to setup Pandora, but its been 5+ years since i logged in. I haven't used the website up untill a few weeks ago when I decided to try to fix the issue. I don't remember if it showed up there before since it been 5+ years since I last logged in.. I just PM'd you.

Are you sure this is the mail you used back in the day? The device
currently is registered to a yahoo.com address. And it's Pandora
configuration comes with another mail address - which is the same as the
Pandora configuration in the account you PMed me. But no two other of
those mail addresses are alike....

Seems as though my Squeezebox Radio is having the same issue that I have read in many places. Everything else works and it connects to Mysqueezebox.com just fine. Pandora does not play. It will look like it does but no sound. Can control and change all stations, no sound.

Is there something magical that Michael can do if I post my MAC? Is it safe to post? I cannot see where you can send PM's with this forum? Am I missing something?

Thanks

Please post details about what you're trying to do, what you're seeing
etc. to some Pandora specific thread. This one reads "can not connect to
mysb" - which you just confirmed did work for you...

my boom has problems connecting to mysqueezebox.com for the past couple of weeks (or months). sometimes it will connect and play music for a few minutes, but then disconnects and is unable to connect again. it also doesn't appear in the remote control when disconnected.
I've tried resetting it and reconnecting to the wifi network, no difference.

I bought a second hand Squeezebox Touch off the internet and when running the initial setup wizard it can't connect to mysqueezebox.com
Any idea what could be the reason?

Did you do Factory Reset? Properly enter your MySB.com login info? Specifically select "use different MySB.com account" (not existing account of previous owner)?

Assuming it did work before, has anything about your network changed?
New ISP? New router or wlan access point? Did you re-boot all components
from the router to wlan to SB? Could you try to use ethernet instead of
wlan and see whether this makes a difference?

Try this.... Unplug Boom and leave unplugged. Now reboot router then reboot Boom. Just reboots (unplug, plug back in), not resets.
After a power outage or ISP service glich my Boom (and only my Boom) refuses to reconnect unless I take the above steps in that sequence.
