On OS X, the fine chaps at Rogue Amoeba have produced Audio Hijack and
Detour, two bits of s/w which can take any audio source and either capture
it, or redirect it to a different audio output, on an application by
application basis. They've recently announced 'Slipstream', an app which
takes audio from any app and streams it to Airport Express (which Apple only
support with audio from iTunes).

Is there any way to use this technology to feed audio to SlimServer? If
there was, that would seem to be a solution to both the requirement to play
CDs directly, or any protected source such as MLB. I don't know, would it
be possible to make SlimServer be an 'output' in Detour's eyes.

I'm a newbie on the Slim scene, so apologies if this is all an old story.

RogueAmoeba also produce NiceCast, which converts any audio input
into an Internet radio stream. I think the say explicitly that this
can be used with SlimServer, though when I looked they did not give
details.
