Hi! I wonder if someone has experience with this problem and can point me to a solution. (I've tried to search the forum, but either there are no relevant discussions or the search function wasn't able to find them.)

I mostly play local files. No problem there. My problem is when I try to stream online content to my squeezeboxen. It rarely works! As in, one in ten times, at best. I have a Tidal account, and I'm able to browse and search Tidal through the LMS interface, but when it comes to actually playing anything, the tracks are added to the current playlist and appear to play normally, but there is no sound! The same happens when I try to play a SomaFM station.

On a rare occation I've been able to make it work by first playing a local file, then the online stream, and do this back and forth until it works. This is unreliable (when I do get it to work, I'm never sure exactly what I did to make it work...) and a hassle.

I'm using LMS 7.9.0 and the problem happens both with physical Squeezebox units (Receivers) and squeezelite.

I'd be very grateful if anyone can help me solve this.

Which OS? Seems like LMS (at times) cannot see the internet.

Assuming Windows.... next time this happens go to LMS > Control Panel > Diagnostics. What is reported for ALL pings, ports, IP's?

Thanks for the reply. I can't seem to find the Diagnostics or the Control Panel (= Settings?). In any case I don't think this is the issue, since LMS is able to browse and search the Tidal catalogue. That's data from their server on the internet. Even the track lengths display correctly in the playlist, just no sound when playing the tracks.

Regarding settings , do try another web browser and see if the settings page works or try 7.9.1 who fixed the settings issue and also some https issues ?

For info - LMS Control Panel, right-click the LMS tray icon. (Windows?)

Aha! There's no control panel tray icon because I run LMS on a headless server in the basement (running Debian). Is there any other way to find this Diagnostics? I can't see it in the Settings page.

Settings work, I just can't find the Diagnostics section there. Maybe I'm blind.

But what you say about https is interesting. Maybe the streams are served by https and this is causing the problem? I thought I had the newest version (7.9.0). Where can I find this version? My LMS interface does not tell me there's a newer version, and http://www.mysqueezebox.com tries to serve me an even older version!

Control Panel is just a Windows thing,

You won't get offered updates to LMS 7.9.0.

LMS 7.9.1 here: http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/?ver=7.9

In the web UI you have advanced then choose loging for example.
Read the log files and if that does not help there are settings to increase log settings.
And also what are you trying to stream can we have a link ? Any plugin or app involved

Also try proxied streaming .

And then some very simple mp3 radiostream with no frills ,does that work

Thanks for your input, everyone! I upgraded to 7.9.1 and for now it seems to work.
