View Full Version : Video?

I've tried using the videobox plugin with mine, this basically uses the
squeezebox as a remote control to control a windows PC to play video
content. I have a PC in my living room connected to the TV so it seemed
logical to implement this as I hate having to go and use the wired keyboard
next to it.

Unfortunately I have been unable to get the plugin to work correctly, I'm
running the latest live firmware on server and box (i.e. non-beta). It does
actually work and play the video file I select however the menu on the
squeeze box just shows something along the lines of 'Searching for Videobox
player, press power to exit' Whilst this is displaying any remote control
commands are still passed through to the videobox player correctly! After a
timeout period it then goes back to the main squeeze box menu.

I've emailed the writer asking for some help, but not had any reply (a few
weeks ago now) so suspect I am not going to get a reply.

If anyone has any ideas I would be very grateful to hear them, esp if you
have got it working on the current firmware.

Matthew

Subject: [slim] Video?

I am about to revamp my audio setup using the Slim stuff as a key
component. This leads me to wonder if I should simultaneously implement some
kind of WiFi-based video streaming solution, and rip up all my DVDs and home
video to put on the same media server (let's assume that storage is not an
issue). I don't see that Slim has any hardware to help with this. Anyone
have any experience/suggestions here?

The graphical displays are curently broken when it comes to showing brief
messages on the display. The videobox player uses this function to send
display messages to the squeezebox. Due to the bug, these messages are lost.
I have a workaround that I use on my setup at home which would not work for the
windows install since that needs to be compiled.
