So do you have to install MySQL prior to loading 6.0? Or is everything self
contained. The box that I am running Slimserver on already has MySQL
loaded...will this cause a problem.

What has been the feedback of other regarding 6.0? Any major problems so
far?

Thanks for answering. What exactly is multiple/external data sources? Do you
mean multiple music folders? Other kinds of audio sources (like "line in" on
the sound card)?

SQLlite is included in the install.

Major problems are mostly past, but some may be to come as new features are
worked in. This is definately Alpha level and not to be taken on by anyone who
isn't prepared to run into a few quirks or even the occasional crash.

Nope, when finally shipped, the install/upgrade process shoudn't be any
more complicated than it is now, hopefully less.

Well, it's still under development, so it's got a few bugs and
unfinished features (for example, searching with the remote is broken
today, but will probably be better tomorrow.)

SlimServer memory usage is lower, especially for large libraries and
many operations are much faster, such as web searching, browsing of
large libraries, etc...

There were a large number of bug reports and feature requests that
built up over time with the previous versions of SlimServer that were
all postponed until we could rework the infrastructure in SlimServer to
use a proper database backend. Now that this is in place, expect a lot
of fast improvement!
