Guys, since being introduced to the RPI and Picore/LMS this little box has fronted my decent -ish system since.

Naim CDI and upgraded MDAC have virtually been made redundant :D

I've been using the IQUADIO DAC+ as the dac.

After learning the basic ropes of RPI/LMS etc. I'd now like another play with something else seeing prices are so keen with regards to PI bolt ons and the bang for bucks you get.

So, I'm now looking at placing an order for some of the "allo" kit.

Many good reports around about the Piano 2.1 dac and in particular the Kali clocker.

Has anyone here tried this kit? And more to the point got it working with Picore/LMS? I use 3.10 version Picore at present and it's as stable as heck.

I'm also looking at Allo's "VANA" package which gives you the Sparky, DAC, Clocker, and an amp and other bits at a discounted price, be fun to try a fag packet sized amp against some of the 25kg battleships I have here lol.

Any info and experiences welcome on this guys please, there seems few other places where I can glean any info on it.

Much appreciated, Thanks.

PS, any downsides to using a Sparky? Am I best buying another RPI3 instead?

The problem is that the RPi is excellent bang for the bucks, due to (mostly) good engineering, a no-frills design approach and above all huge manufacturing volumes. As soon as you divert from those 3 criteria, the ratio between bang and bucks goes down dramatically. Thus any sort of "audiophile only" add-ons quickly hit a steep path of reducing returns.
