View Full Version : FLAC Cue Sheet Support? (Revived)

A couple of months ago, discussion occurred on the support for cue sheets in
single/album FLAC files. The discussion ended with Slimserver support for a
number of methods. One that was discussed at the tail end of the thread
never got implemented.

It seems that quite a few folks (including myself - since I followed the
instructions of others), embed the CUE sheet twice. Once in the standard
FLAC cuesheet tag (which DOES NOT include / support the CD-TEXT information
including track information), and secondly in a VORBIS tag named cuesheet
that has the full blown cuesheet including track information.

Is there anyway that SlimServer could read the VORBIS tag CUESHEET to grab
song title information?

Until a "standardized" way to embed this type of information is formalized,
the method above seems to be the most popular way to have all the necessary
information embedded in a single flac file.

Currently, Slimserver picks up my flacs fine, but appears to be reading the
official FLAC cuesheet - since none of my songs have titles (or picking up
the album and artist info from the filename).

If this could be supported, I would be absolutely golden. I also don't mind
helping out with information / or any other sundry assistance... I wrote
the python scripts that automate my encoding / tagging process executed by
EAC, so I can pass the actual tagging process along as well.

There's a patch at http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=718 but
I don't believe it's been applied to cvs yet.

If you have a chance, try out the patch and see if you still have
problems, or if you think we should all pester the guys with cvs
commit access. ;)
