View Full Version : Automate PC Startup of WinAmp?

I am using a PC loaded with SlimServer & Winamp, feeding directly into my receiver (this is my second/cottage system, use Squeezebox on other system).

I would like to make this system as easy to use as possible (Wife Acceptance Factor), so would like it so when the PC is turned on, it boots up ready to play. Easy enough with SlimServer and with the Winamp applications (just add executables to Start menu), but I have not been able to find a way to make Winamp default/start up with the File/Play URL/http://localhost:9000/stream.mp3. A user has to go in to Winamp and select this before it can play the streamed music.

Anyone have an idea of how to do this with WinAmp (or an alternative player/approach that will do this somehow)? Buying another Squeezebox is an option, but wanted to see if I could use this "PC-only" approach first.

Thanks!

Jim

Have you looked at Softsqueeze? It is a software version of the SqueezeBox.

while I haven't actually tried this it would seem that if you created a playlist that had just the one entry http://localhost:9000/stream.mp3 and stuck that in that startup folder then it'd probably just launch the associated app and start playing on boot.

Hi,

Is is possible to configure / hack different size text and or the
format for the datetime screensaver?

I'd ideally like to either remove the date from the screensaver, or be
able to specify large text for the screensaver whilst still having the
standard size for normal operation...

I had a look through plugin.pm in the datetime directory, but failed
to spot anything obvious... (first time I've looked at a plugin
though)

Cheers for any thoughts,

Rob
