Hi all, bit of advice if you can please..

I am planning for the eventual demise of Spotify on squeezebox, so I`m looking to connect my laptop to the DAC in my Transporter as a contingency.

I`m looking at one of these. Anyone got any thoughts or alternative suggestions?

The HiFace units seem to get good reviews:

I've seen versions with either RCA or BNC output.

Raspberry pi3 with HiFiBerry Digi Plus running LMS on Raspbian Jessie-lite with Squeezelite (or piCorePlayer)

If your in the UK, about 60 (some uk retailers supply the digi+ I believe)

looks great if I ever get into raspberry pi based players, but not for now. ATM I`m only interested in connecting my laptop.

ahh, ok then the world is your oyster, fill your boots as almost anyone with a shed makes a SPDIF. Don't spen too much, if your using windows check for a driver, almost any xmos chip based one should be good.

M2tech mentioned already, the one you linked to, lots of choice here

If all you are after is 16/44.1 then a Behringer UAC202 is surprisingly good at around 25. It has an optical out port as well as RCA in/out.

EDIT. No Windows drivers required. Device is detected as a soundcard.

Looks cool, and half the price of some of the others. Looks to have an xmos chip.
