How does a Squeezebox and LMS "find" each other?

Maybe a silly question: :confused:

How does a Squeezebox and a Logitech Media Server "find" each other?
Does the Squeezebox scanning the subnet for a LMS? Or does the LMS somehow broadcast its existence continously?

On startup a player will send a UDP broadcast packet onport 3483 - any LMS server on the LAN segment who "hears" the packet will reply with its name and any other requested info. IP address of LMS server comes from UDP packet header.
