View Full Version : Slim.exe as a service and using lame for WMA streams

Have SLIMP3 and Squeezebox, running latest nightly, XP SP2.

All seems well with 5.4+ except one thing I've noticed since I moved to
5.4.0. Perhaps it's a setup thing...

When I run slim.exe as a regular program, I play windows media streams by
specifying the lame decodor in the file format conversion setup. Everything
works great - streams for hours without problems. However, if I run
slim.exe as a service I cannot stream windows media file formats. Seems to
be cycling through connect/reconnect perhaps repeatedly calling lame.exe
over and over. Is there some sort of permission requirement required by the
service in order to launch other programs?

I think I just have a set things up improperly or this issue would have been
brought up already.

Appreciate the help.
Mike

What user are you running the Slim service as? Try giving it your own
authentication information; if that works, it's permissions on lame.exe.
