Hi!

Does the Controller work with LMS 7.9?

... and what's the latest firmware?

I don't have one, but...

looking in the Firmware directory of my installed LMS 7.9, it has Receiver firmware version 77.

Not sure if that is shared with the Controller? Or whether the latter upgrades itself independently of LMS, like the Touch?

I don't know the current Controller firmware, but it definitely works with LMS 7.9

Thanks for the replies.

I think the firmware is jive.bin - seems the latest for 7.9 is from Jan 2014. Can anyone confirm?

So, to update i just need to follow the ssh method using the jive.bin from 7.9 updates ?

Well I think one uses the "install update from a usb stick" method.

It should just update itself.

Are you using the controller as a player?

Haven't got one yet! Just scoping the landscape.

Interesting; I wonder why it's not in the Debian LMS 7.9 pkg?

Perhaps because it isn't installed via LMS directly?

Firmware images for the new players and the controller never have been
part of any package. They're always downloaded on demand.

Not quite - you can update (or add custom applications) from the SD card under the battery see http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/SqueezeOS_Tips

To respond to the original question, and looking at others from the OP, the controller works just fine with 7.9. I have 3 or 4 dotted around and never had to do anything special, they just worked, and still do. Good luck when you manage to find one for sale. I'm running off a QNAP NAS fwiw, but they're fine with windows too.

All this talk of Controllers led me to fire up one of mine.

From a Controller point of view, it seems Firmware is called Software. You can do a "Software" update from the Controller itself, navigate to Settings/Advanced/Software Update. Do this while you are connected to the external network. The controller will then tell you if there is an update available, and invite you to update if so.

Last update for the Controller is 7.8. I'm running LMS 7.9, and the Controller reported that "software" was up to date and running 7.8.
